quick and cheap Ipod hook up on OEM radio's
Not sure how many of you know this... but you can buy a cassette adapter that goes into our tape decks and the other end plugs into your Ipod, Iphone or pretty much any MP3 player.. and although the sound is not amazing, it is pretty decent... way better than those things that work through your FM radio...
And they cost like 3 bucks! good cheap alternative... https://www.digitalaquariums.com/images/cassette1.jpg |
Old school cool !!!
I remember those the used to come with walk/discmans super cool easy cheap idea !!!
|
that would work...if our cars came with a cassette player
|
Mine came with a cassette player. I think 04-06 come with one stock.
|
really? wow thats weird
|
Mine came with A track.
|
what the heck is a cassette?
|
i have always used this. i primarily use my Sirius. but grabbed my cassette adapter from my sony discman i got in 98 to use with my ipod.
you 07 and 08 owners, um pretty sure you have an input jack. so why say you don't have a cassette deck? just plug it in that way. |
as far as sound goes, um an MP3 reduces quality to compress the track's memory capacity anyway. besides our BOSE does have NR as well.
sounds just as good as my high priced Sennheiser ear buds. |

That would definitely work OP. I'm running one in my 4th gen, got it for like $2 shipped off eBay and it works perfectly.
|
ha you guys got it for 2 or 3 bucks off ebay while on the other hand freakin best buy goes and charges $25for it. Such a rip off for a piece of plastic and a wire
|
ya I do it since I got my tercel.... 20$

Raz, too funny. Obviously you, and several others on here, are much younger than I am.... its an "8" track. Now, I feel old. I remember buying my first album, it was KISS on an 8 track. Now I'm gonna go drink myself into a coma b/c I'm so depressed. |
I just installed the iPod interface on my 04.. but I will agree as far as cheap and decent quality, the tape deck pieces are not bad.
|
i am a big fan of the cassette adapter - i use it in my 03 and they bring crystal clear audio to your radio (depending on source material, of course) if you can find a way to make the wire dangling out look nice it pays dividends bc FM modulators lose TONS of kbps on the way to your radio but the cassette is perfect
also, i would LOVE to see someone mount a mini8 under a maxima dash and hook it in the aux port! |
The cassette adapter sounds better then the CD player! Way more base.

I'm having the same issue with my cassette adapter in my '05... thought that it was the adapter & complained to the guy I bought it from on eBay and he sent me another one for free and it's doing the same thing (sounds like it's fast-forwarding & I can't get it to stop). If I could get it to act right long enough, I guess I could try to clean the heads on it and hopefully get my MP3 player to work on it. I plan on using that Bose until I completely get tired of the sound, but it'll do for now...
Thanks for your help in advance! :) |
Where can i get an Ipod Interface installed? I just bought my 05 SE and was wondering if there was a way to have it installed with an AUX port
|
You can also use the Cassette Adapter to make hands free phone calls!
Works perfectly with my HTC Evo. |

The stock (non-BOSE) system must have some pretty good speakers and speaker surrounds for the system to sound so good without an amplifier. It's ridiculous! Also, at the place where I bought my pioneer deck, the guy that sold me the stuff was a previous altima owner, and has done a TON of work on Altimas, G-35's, and 6th Gen maximas. He answered EVERY single question I had. I was LUCKY to run into him! |
