Finally got to Tint and Debadge

Been so busy lately. ive had my max for a couple months now and usually the first thing i do to my cars/trucks is debadge and tint. i went with 20% even tho i wanted it a little lighter like a 25% but this was a higher quality tint they sold me on and the next step was 35%. i left the 3.5 ont he back for a little contrast. next is black out the roof stripes and the grill except for the emblem... then get some better nissan or infiniti oem wheels

you should take the 3.5 off so it becomes 100% symmetrical. leaving it on makes it look like you just quit half way through the job. other then that, it looks great!!

+1 on what you just said. I think he needs to take that 3.5 off.

DMAXI06 05-03-2011 11:11 AM

Plus 2 on that just take it all off, looks good with the tint just did mine but went 5% all around, its been super hot lately out here......:D

6.5affiliate 05-03-2011 01:45 PM

Looks GOOD!!

What's next?

Pinto 05-03-2011 04:15 PM

hmm a few people i work with said that too guess removing 3.5 is next!! haha

keeping an eye out for:
18 or 19" oem nissan/infiniti wheels
repaint hood
black out roof stripes and grill minus emblem
jack up the rear with an extra spring spacer
progress rsb
racingline links
strut bars
ebay or custom exhuast
y pipe
bullydog tuner

eventually i would love to turbo it but right now the chunks of money like that are for investing for the future not for toys. i could have a kit on there and make 300whp with a sweet front mount in the bumper which would be great. but no point right now

the other mods can come on a monthly basis

chernmax 05-03-2011 05:37 PM

Looks good, do your thing bro!

LandsEnd 05-03-2011 06:43 PM

What brand tint is that?
Looks light up by the dot matrix on the rear what happened there?

It looks lighter in the bright light because you're seeing the outline of the rear window heating element which is between the glass and tint!

KCMAXX 05-03-2011 06:56 PM

Looks good. I agree on pulling the 3.5

I have some wheels in the F/S section that would look great on your car...

I totally agree. That stuff can wait, I personally think it's better to see a ride that gradually grows than everything happening all at once.

In for pics when you decide to start crossing stuff off of your mods list.

Pinto 05-03-2011 09:21 PM

yea that dot matrix at the top bugged me out. hes saying it still needs to dry but im a little schetchy with how hot its been. its 3m color stable film. i told them i would wait a few days bc i havent noticed any other max look like that. ive taken about 5 cars to this place and loved them every time

MadMaxx11225 05-04-2011 05:24 PM

where you get your grill from? looks awfully similar to the new altimas

those grills are OEM for the 07-08

Kryogen 05-04-2011 08:07 PM

I wish I could have 20% all around. I'm 35/20/20, but legal limit here for the front is 70%, which is damn dumb.... having 35/20/20 is less dark at the front, and after 3 years I still did not get arrested, but they make tint operations during summer so some day I'll get busted. Dumb because with 35 you can still see in the car, and I just like to get less sun and a little privacy. Not like I'm a danger to society with a 35% tint.....

Pinto 05-05-2011 08:33 AM

any tint in nj on the front windows is illegal. ill get a ticket at some point when i had my dodge 1500 and dodge 3500 dulley cops never said anything but thats prolly bc you get looked at different in a heavy duty truck than a sporty sedan

MadMax07SL 05-05-2011 09:38 AM

You should leave the numbers, but reverse them.

5.3 will scare off the VTechs without even a fight. :hide:

Pinto 05-05-2011 08:05 PM

ha yea but then i might as well put a GTR badge on it

Wildcat Maxima 05-06-2011 12:29 PM

Losing the 3.5 would really clean it up and make it look finished. just bought mine and I'm getting ready to do the same thing.

SlvrPtrn 05-07-2011 12:35 PM

Can't help but agree with losing 3.5 but I love the tint. Really sets off the car imo

awreadie 05-13-2011 06:03 AM

Looks good. I wish I had bought a 07-08. I got the 06. Front end doesn't look is clean as the newer ones. The Texas law just changed the damn tint percentage recently. We use to go dark dark here.

Blckmax07 05-14-2011 02:13 PM

I Wanna debadge my 07 Maxima as well, looks clean (if 3.5 was removed) but I'm too proud of it. I like to let people know what it is. So I'm still debating on if I should or shouldn't.... it definitely looks good without it though.

Jaysin_X 05-15-2011 07:13 PM

I've only had my 08 for 2 weeks. I'm thinking about tint and debadge (not Maxima or 3.5 SL just the dealers badge) but it's so damn sexy as is so I'm in no hurry. Besides I'm to busy driving it right now! lol

Akiriyama 05-15-2011 08:15 PM

I agree, remove the 3.5 badge. Keeps an even look.

04max-28 05-15-2011 10:15 PM

looks good, im thinking as well of debadging mines, but how its done? is it a 3m tape and what else can you do when its off to clean the sticky part?

6.5affiliate 05-15-2011 11:26 PM

What you need:

1. Hair dryer
2. Plastic spatula or plastic knife or fishing line
3. goo-gone
4. soap and water
5. polish
6. wax

Heat up the emblems with a hair dryer for a few minutes. Be careful not to get to close because you don't want to harm the paint. Afterwards, use one of the tools listed above and start working on the emblem to loosen it up from one end to the other. Heat it up again for a few more minutes if it's giving you a hard time. Continue to do this until the emblem is off. *Be careful not to scratch your paint up in the process*

If your using fishing line. Start with a sawing motion on one of the of the emblem and work your way through it.

As for your other question, yes it's a adhesive type tape that's holding it on there. BUT, it also depends on what you have. If you have a trunk lid then the burger is held on there with bolts.

You can clean the remaining adhesive off with the goo gone. Use some soap and water to immediately clean it off and dry it with a terry cloth. Or else it'll damage the paint. Once your done with that then use some polish and wax to protect the paint since it's exposed to the elements now.

04max-28 05-16-2011 07:42 PM

THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK!! WILL DO!

MaxPrime 05-28-2011 03:40 PM

Yeah i think i might take all that of from my maxima soon too i just got it like 1 month ago but time will tell.
