Advice: GTR Body Kit
 

So I posted about advice on drop springs and suspension in an earlier thread.. wanted to keep this one separate.

My car is now dropped on Eibach Pro Kit + KYB GR2's

Overall I love the look, however I can't find the RedLineMax body kit front bumper anymore. So I have resorted to the Extreme Dimensions duraflex GTR kit.. I have read several of the forums on here the later model 1.2 sits higher and is made for cars that are lowered.

Was wondering what the gap between the ground and kit would be.. anyone have an idea what the gap is on a stock non-lowered maxima and the kit? From there I can add the drop to what the kit adds I guess.

Looking for some fellow people with experience on this. My main reason is I don't want it to plow snow in the New England weather up here.. I don't mind it a little but I want to be able to still angle over speed bumps and such..

a buddy of mine just installed his over the weekend and he has rubbing issues like crazy. he also is on 22's so that could be another reason - i see you are sitting on stock 18's so I think you might be fine.

as for the plowing snow - i'm lowered with KYB and Progress and plow sometimes in the Toronto winter W/O the kit on....

Exactly what I was worried about.. :/ damn you New England weather!

I might just try it.. I don't know what the worst that could happen would be with the setup except I plow a lot of snow? That duraflex stuff is crazy durable.


I am only really worried about bottoming out.. I can deal with winter I think. Going to research more.. wish there was an option for a kit that looks the same a tiny bit higher. Eibach kit drops me lower than your progress setup from my quick google search.

as for the springs - Eibach is 2' front and .8' in the rear while Progress is 1.75' front and .75' in the rear.

not a huge difference overall. i was shocked how my buddy's maxima rubs like crazy, but we expected it to.

Have you considered the 6.5 gen bumper made for the 6th gens? I'd probably go that route if I was worried about bumper height (that and the GTR front bumper requires a LOT of prep work, it's not a simple get it and paint it job).

^^Huge thanks for the heads up.. I thought it was exactly that.. I am looking for more of a bolt on mod.. I got a paint shop and a friend that can put it on the car with help from me.. Trying to avoid the bondo/blending route.. No issues sanding prepping etc though!

I thought RedlineMax's bumper was the 6.5 :goofy:.. is it bolt on?

I have a C-Mod grill so the grill may not have any gap problems at least what I "think" I read about it.

6.5 gen will require the 6.5 headlights and 6.5 hood to have a perfect alignment. i was going to go that route a few months back when i got owned on the road by a pathfinder. i got the bumper and there were horrible gaps where the lights and hood align with the bumper.

Not if you use the 6.5 gen bumper made specifically for 6th gens.

All the lines on the bumper are too blunt, doesn't match the sharp lines on the maxima at all. It's easy to see around the headlights, just follow the lines from the hood to the bumper.

Here is the link to the ZK2 bumper (the vendor is the same one that got the GT-R bumper made, but it seems like the lines are much better).

The C-Mod grill should fit perfectly in this bumper.

Thanks Joecurr! I really like the ZK2 Bumper.. I also don't think it's as low so it may give me the look I want with a almost stock height to it.. I just love the fog lights placement and the mesh in the bottom grill..

No problem. You might want to look into the fog light installation. From what I recall, you can't use the OEM foglights since it was designed for aftermarket foglights.

Gotcha.. any suggestion on halo fog kits? Are they easy to wire up? I am sure their is a guide somewhere but I am lazy just curious if I cut those cornering indicator lights in place of the fogs or piggy back on the fogs of the headlight assembly.

Definitely going to check out some yellow piaa's to offset the switchback DRL's and 6000K hids I plan to put in
