WHERE is the resister for the running tail lights
 

So i tinted my tail lights and have read the Vehicle code up and down. basically, as long as the car has 2 red reflectors and can be plainly visible seen up to 1000 feet away no cop is going to bug me about it. the problem is the running tail lights are too dim. although it can be seen up to 1000 feet away, the cop can still say "its not PLAINLY visible." its not the light bulb, its the power going to the light bulb that has been reduced. so it leads me to believe there is a resister in there somewhere.

BUT WHERE?

my plan of attack is to get better bulbs, which i have, and to change out the resister to one that will allow the right amount of power to the lights. maybe just a tad under the breaking light's power.

if any of you have a better idea, let me know. i do not want to run a wire from the battery, and splicing into any other lighting wire will yeild the same results as the tail lights, too dim. i would prefer to use the same wiring same harness same everything just increase the power.

if its not possible, or none of you know where that resister lies, do you know of any other wire i can splice into that would give more power than im getting now?

There is no resistor. That's the best that the bulb can do. The reason the brake lights are brighter is that there are 2 filaments in the bulb, not just 1 like in the parking light.

not true, i got the brightest silverstar bulbs you can and i put it in the braking light housing and hit the brakes, and the bulb went twice as bright, put it back in the parking light and back to dim. the power coming into the parking lights is less than the braking light

why does EZ concept tail lights not come up in a google search. I've found them a few times before but for some reason im having trouble now. anyone wanna be nice and throw up a link?

There's really not a bulb out there that will solve your issue. Unless you somehow hard wire some HID's in there which will melt your tail light housing or re-do it so that the tint isn't as dark. Otherwise, to the best of my knowledge. Your pretty much stuck with what you got.

Haven't noticed a resistor in there from all the times that I messed with my tail lights unfortunately.

my led red bulbs are blinding from vleds.com but very pricey.

with them you must add a resistor to draw more power. This has NO effect on the brightness. It simply tell the safety feature there is a working bulb. LEDs draw too low a current to be noticed and the car blinks faster to warn you.

No idea what oem "resister" you're mentioning.

what model number for the LED did you get for your tail lights?

did you use the same LED for your brake light and your parking light or are they different?

what ohm resister do you need to use?

I'm going to do my set up just like yours if your saying they are brighter then factory bulbs.

seeing that i won't find the resister anywhere ill need to use a light source that operates at a lower power.. my problem is not the brake light, its bright enough, i just need to amp up the parking light and the resister is not in the tail assembly, i already checked, its gotta be up in the engine bay. but screw it if going LED will solve my problem.

All 4 are the same bulbs. There are also small flank bulbs on each side.

I think you need two 3ohm resistors if you're doing the front LED as well. if just the back you need two 6ohm resistors.

I got 6ohm for my tails. But now i'm also doing the front and just adding 2 more 6ohm resistors up there.
