Need Help With Steering Wheel Radio Controls
I never thought I'll get stuck like this regarding audio installation, but i guess there's a first time for everything right
I replaced the Bose stereo in my 04 with an aftermarket Eclipse 7" indash with built in GPS.Had it hooked up to a Phoenix Gold ZX475 Tinanium for my Rockford Fosgate door speakers, and a JL 1000/1 for my JL 12w7's.System was pounding as a **** till yesterday.I was missing my steering wheel stereo controls so I ordered the PAC SWI-ECL2 interface.
Instructions sheet that came with it sucks.I'm stuck looking for the steering wheel control harness(plug)...where is it?
I was trying to get some help online and I couldn't find anything.I tried looking for the wires with an ohm meter from a video on youtube and nothing.
This is what the instructions say:
3. Connecting the SWI-ECL2's steering wheel control input wire to vehicle plug.
And heres an instructions pic and a real pic from the "plug"
As you can see the numbers that are marked (12,14,15,16)are the only wires in the plug and not even the colors match with the instructions sheet.
This plug is the only "16 pin plug" i found behing the dash.
Here's also the video link i tried with the ohm meter but no success

Any help is appreciated. Now my stereo is out of the car.Bunch of wires hanging from the console.Im not putting that stereo in without finding these damn wires. Thanks in advance for your help.

3. Connecting the SWI-ECL2's steering wheel control input wire to vehicle plug.
- Read the note in the chart below.
Wire colors are as follows:
2004-2005
Pin 12 Red/White
Pin 13 Green
Pin 14 Black/Red
2006
Pin 12 White/Red
Pin 13 Green/Red
Pin 14 Red/Black- Connect the white and brown wires from the SWI-ECL2 to the steering remote control harness (Supplied by Eclipse), color for color. The 20 pin connector is not used, therefore the connector can be cut off or left in place. Note: If the Eclipse wire harness has a brown/black wire, connect the SWI-ECL2's white wire to this wire.

Wait a minute. Are you referring to the white box behind the AC controls( Unified meter)?

Damn..how can I be so dum dum.I guess working graveyards eventually shuts your brain down...and coffee doesnt helpwhen you need to sleep you NEED to sleep.
A year ago I replaced the whole center console for a 08 one.I wanted a double din,no room for the old AV controls there.I moved them up at the dome light so I can still get the use of the unboard computer(Maintenance, trip, temp, time etc).I totally forgot I moved them up there though. After 3 days of cables hangin' and no system bangin' finally woke up from the "dumbnomia"(if I can call it like that).
Wires I needed were there up in the dome light.Soldered some wires and got it done. Here's a cpl of pics of an 04 with an 08 center console and AV relocation
PS I spray painted the AC buttons to match the console
Once again...Job well done

Lol yea I remember that and thank you..wow time flies fast.I also did 2 layers of dynamat on floor, doors n trunk.Been thinkin bout taking the whole dashboard out one day and barricade it with at least 3 layers of dynamat. It does wonders.Stops heat and sound, but that'll b later.Next project is the headliner.I'm gonna do a dark grey suade on it.And while headliner's out,I'm gonna lay a sheet of dynamat on roof too.I can't stand that noise rain when it rains

Drives you crazy doesnt it?lol..Sounds like you're inside this giant junk can lol..I really like how my doors sound now when I open and close them...very solid and no "thummmb" sound.I'm washing my car on a self wash now and totaly forgot to check it on a drive thru carwash so I went today to try it Sandra see if it still feels like before(when I didn't have the doors dampened),those brushes when they were hitting the doors werent even loud at all.But that roof is still driving me crazy lol

If you really know what you doing,it wont be that hard, but you really need to dedicate some time to it and pay attention to what you're doing.Since I have my doors and dash covered with carbon fiber pleather,I went that way with the dome light housing and the AC buttons frame, and also wrapped the sun visors to match with the dome housing, but you can go either or..
