2008 Maxima's is your idle irratic. Does the RPM needle move?

I took my car into the dealer today and they told me this is normal. For some reason when im stopped and not moving in D and P my RPM needle moves like 1/8th of an inch to 1/4 of an inch. The AC is not on and the heat is also not on.

Does this happen to you?

This thing really bothers me ill take a video one night to show.

Ill post a video over the weekend.

put a bottle of seafoam in your engine and one in your gas tank, it should help.

The problem is I paid a stupid 105$ fee for diagnostics and those asshats told me that thats normal. But I disagree. I really nees to post that video.

an 08 shouldnt need seafoam, i have an 08, approaching 60k and I dont have this erratic rpm thing you spoke about. I also have soo many audio items, strobe lights, etc. its not even funny

sounds weird

mine does by 50 to 300 rpm. normal..

if yours is doing more than that, then i second the sea foam, could have dirty injectors, that will clear it right up.

It's not that out of the ordinary. If it was misfiring, then that'd be an issue.

You can clean your throttle chamber or seafoam if you like. It might make it a little better.

Funny you say this. I just noticed this the other day. The engine does rev funny at all, it just seems like the tach needle doesn't move like a car with a normal transmission.

+1, I drive an 08 also and same thing here, I didnt notice till today, some times when the car is parked shakes a lil bit, but I guess is normal.....:gotme:

Wow this sucks if its normal. My s4 doesnt do it I guess im being picky here by the looks of it.

mdb007 Nov 5, 2011 09:05 PM

My 07 does it too! not consistent but i do see the tach jump a little when at idle and warm. Doesn't matter whether AC is on or not and Dealer said that is normal. Had mine checked out last year while still under warranty so avoided the diagnostic charge. I ignore it now
