How many of you deleted EGR?

I am in the process of installing Altima headers. I want to know how many people here successfully deleted EGR without throwing CEL? What's the downside beside couple mpg drop?

You would need to weld the bung to the 3rd cylinder exhaust header and connect the valve to the pipe. You can just reuse that EGR pipe and weld it into the header or use a bung. You can delete the system by just having the valve plugged into the harness along with the temperature sensor but not connected to the exhaust header in any way. That should not trigger a CEL but will rob you of its benefits.

I ripped out these things and plugged 2 vacuum hoses as well as the hole on intake manifold. Am I missing anything else?

You can't delete the EGR and not expect codes. It's a must. It won't affect your engine or performance but if you really want to not get that code you can fabricate your EGR into your headers to prevent that recirculation code. You will get codes regardless what you do. One other code you'll get is the code for removing your cats. Don't think you can avoid codes after the headers install

You don't have to fabricate EGR into the headers. Just plug in the valve into the main harness and the temperature sensor.

I know I will get EGR code. I wanted to keep the EGR system by getting a bung welded, but after seeing the inside of my intake manifold I was disgusted!

SO I ripped it all off.

If you plan to get tuned (and I hope you do) Uprev will take care of the codes for both the EGR and headers.

Yeah just got to find a shop to do it. Will SAFC do it?

The EGR and the catalytic codes won't affect the engine performance so no matter what you do you can't get rid of all of them. Get use to that bright orange "service engine soon" like in the cluster. LOL. I have 9 codes and i'm still trying to get ride of the dangerous ones but i'm having no luck.

I need to get back to the track and hurt some feelings. LOL...

Haha.

While the codes may not affect performance we know both the headers and deleting the EGR will have an affect on the AFR which of course will. That's why I mentioned getting tuned. Deleting the codes is just a bonus.
