07 max blows smoke on startup

Just recently picked up an 07 with 99k on it. After a few days at home I noticed it would blow out smoke on startup for about 5 seconds or so. Some side notes coolant level is fine, no sludge I can see, oil is clean. The smoke itself is light grey not white or dark grey. It does not smell sweet, it smells slightly like it was running rich. I have no cel on. I have changed the pcv and also pulled the front plugs, they were clean but did smell a little bit like oil. I've have many Maximas but this has got me.... Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using synthetic or conventional oil? The two have different colors and smells when they burn.

From your description, it sounds like there is some wear on the valve guides, and a few drops of oil seep into the combustion chamber when it's sitting, and when you start it up it burns off. I've seen this many times with several different types of cars over the years.

Ive researched and have heard that also. I think the car has conventional in it. It was changed right before i picked it up probably with the cheap stuff. Im also considering going with a thicker oil(syn) like 10-40. Thanks for the reply

Probably cyl #4 coil pack went dead. Good idea to replace the spark plugs too while you're at it.
