06 maxima stock stereo question

so i no longer have my maxima but i just installed a stereo in my neighbors 06 maxima so basically i deleted the original tape deck and cd and put in the new receiver. leaving the original screen on, but now the button that scrolls through the maintenance, mpg and all that wont work any ideas why?

i remember on my 02 maxima i had to ground the brown wire to get the button to work so it could scroll again but is there a similar thing going on here?
any help would be greatly appreciated

two things, first there is a plug that you probably forgot at the top of the center piece that covers the new player. Second, don't ground the brown wire. Only the black to chassis and the pink wire to either a switch, or ground, or the e-brake. Depends on the deck to be honest. I have used one, where I needed to input a switch, that I would have to use in order to interact with certain features while driving. I also had one, that needed a constant ground no matter if it was just turned on or off then on. Then there is the right way to do it and hook it to your e-brake. good luck let us know if this fixes your issue.

Sounds like you forgot to put the connector back in when you put the bezel around the screen back on, there's nothing special you have to do in the 6th gen.
