Broken Dome Light Switch Caused Fuse to Blow?

Hello everyone. I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5SE. I recently decided to tighten the switch on the dome light and it accidently broke. Of course, without the switch, the interior lights don't turn on anymore when the door is opened. A couple hours later, the light for the tail lights and the lights for the Volume, AM/FM, CD, Tape, etc. stopped working too. As I read in other forums, the dome light switch is connected with everything so that causes one of the fuses to blow. I replaced the fuse and everything works perfectly. Since the dome light switch is no longer in its place and I am not using it, do you think it will give me problems in the future?

Thanks!!

If the switch has completely fallen out, the fuse shouldn't blow anymore. If you'd like to temporarily wire up the switch so that the lights will come on when the doors are open, you can do the fix that is found here:

Common issue with dome light switch. Yes it shortens out entire circuit and causes fuse to blow. Link to above write-up is excellent, and costs you zero too.

I had the same exact issue. Some switch fell out. (I wired the orange and white wires to make the lights come on when the doors open, though this is not necessary) as for the blown tail lights, there is one more fuse box hiding by your wiper fluid, the tail light fuse is a 15 amp fuse, and its in that box.

sunglass holder spring

does anyone know how the spring is supposed to sit on the left side of the sunglass holder? I took it out to get at the wires for the broken dome light switch and now I can't seem to figure out how the spring goes back in correctly.. thanks
