grinding(?) noise from driver front

2006 with 83K miles. Only had it for a few weeks and 1000 miles.
On the way home from work yesterday I noticed a noise. Sorta makes me think CV, but it only happens when driving straight. If I even put a bit of pressure on the steering wheel to the right or left, the noise goes away. The noise also goes away when I apply brakes.
Wheel bearing? I see some comments that wheel bearings are a thing on these.

If the noise occurs when the wheels are turning, I would (disclaimer) jack up the front and on jack stand try to find source - a if unable to take to a shop. Again lots of precautions to take with this method to make sure car doesn't jump off stand.

Brakes pads , rotors, wheel bearings, axle, cv boot, strut mounts are all checkpoints.

Be also mindful that noise travels along hard surfaces, so the noice could originate from the muffler and or the rear wheels.

Thanks, Les

A little bit embarrassed, but it turns out the noise was from loose lug nuts.
Yikes.

When I bought the car I had found loose lug nuts. So this is twice.

However, I had that wheel off over the weekend, so the fault is mine.
But, I was careful to install it well. Snugged them up with a crosswise pattern with the tire off the ground. All the right steps.
Even checking the torque with a torque wrench.

- the book says 80 ft-lb -

So, now I'm carrying a socket wrench under my seat and will check them a lot.
