04 Maxima LH axle seal

04 Maxima LH axle seal
Car was manufactured 08/03. The LH transaxle seal is leaking and I can't find a P/N from Nissan or parts houses. I am pretty sure this 3.5 L has the 5 sp auto because I counted as it was going through the gears. The shaft dia is only 1.220" and all the seals they want to give me are about 1 1/2" I.D. Anybody know the correct P/N? Thanks.

I did manage to get a new axle assy. but nobody has the seal, or at least can't find it. I'll take your advice and write down all the numbers to try and have a seal on hand. Car was diagnosed some time ago as leaking from the case halves but I am pretty sure it is from the seal. Knowing that I have it back together again and I am getting busy with other things maybe I'll first just try some stop leak.

I tried the dealer again with the VIN and no luck. They show the same P/N for both sides and from other stuff I have read here on the forum the LH side is smaller.
This car has to make it across the country. I'll teach him how to add fluid if he needs to.

They show seal P/N 383428Y011 which is about 1 1/2" ID.
I need seal for 1.220" shaft dia.
I ASSUME they changed parts early on in production and lost the P/N. I am surprised I found the correct drive axle shaft replacement.
Thanks Tarzan for the correct trans #.

On the 4 speed automatic trans, model RE4F04B, the axle size is 1.299 inch.
On the 5 speed automatic trans, model RE5F22A, the axle size is 1.598 inch.
Nissan "losing" a part number would be very unusual. Their method is to tell you it is no longer available and let you wither and die. But after-market places like autozone would usually have them.
