P0340 with P0011 on my nissan

P0340 with P0011 on my nissan

Hi Friends,

I have a nissan maxima of 6th Gen (2004-2008) and all of the sudden we got below codes.

While driving few days ago, all of the sudden TCS-OFF and SLIP sing with SES started showing.
So i reached home and off the TCS-OFF button and then TCS , SLIP warning cleared, but SES was still on.

So i thought to show to someone, So i went to some expert one and he stated that he is getting below code in diagnosed test.

Section - 1
1. P0340 cmp sen/cir bank 1-3 times
2. P0011 int/vt tlm cont bank 1-1 time

Section - 2
Also few more codes below as well.
1. P0725 engine speed,
2. P0840 fluid pressure sensor sw/a
3. P0745 pc solenoid a,
4. P0778 pc solenoid b,
5. P0868 fluid pressure low
abs-c1130 engine singnal1-16 times

He suggested, that he will clear the the codes, because he was not sure why these are being shown.
I have been driving past few days and not seen the code, so are those codes due to some issue which has been reset.
Please share thoughts are the Section-2 sensor came due to Sensor-1 or there is some issue with transmission.

Also i have heard that there is 120k / 10 year transmission warranty, but how to check that.
Please share inputs.

Replace the CPS sensor and go from there. Your expert sucks ballz.

Thanks Tarzan for the reply.

So you are suggesting that replacing the CPS sensor will fix all the below codes (both sections code).

Also any information how to check the if Car is still in transmission replacement warranty of 120k/10 years.

Would you suggest to CPS sensor replaced by Dealer.
I am thinking if i go to the dealer, if i have warranty of transmission replacement should as that as well for section-2 codes.

Suggestion ?

You don't need the dealer to replace the CPS. It's quite easy for the front one, and a bit more work for the rear. Sorry, I can't remember which is Bank 1 - front or rear. But all that's involved is removing a few hoses and wires, unscrewing the bolt, pulling out the old CPS and inserting the new one, then restoring everything back.

Some swear by the OEM sensors, but I was in a crunch a couple years back, and ordered Delphi brand from Rock Auto, and it had no issues since. It was the front one going bad, and it took me less than 30 min to replace it.

Hi Tarzan,

thanks once again.

So i asked the mechanic to replaced bank - 1 CMP sensor for code P0340.
It ran fine for 3 weeks and then again it started showing, also when starting its taking time to start after some cranks.

So i took the car again to the mechanic and he again checked and said that Sensor is fault, as it was in warranty, they replaced it thats what they said.
But again after 2 days that P0340 cmp sensor bank-1 came again.

Also this time they diagnosed and saying that the timing signals on sensor are coming as 63-degress, not like 1 - 0 in binary format.
I don't get it much, but they are saying it will cost me around 250$ just to reach at starting point to start found the root cause.
they are saying it could be faulty.
1. Camshaft Gear
2. Camshaft solenoid Adjust -
3. or Camshaft intake.

Also these parts are quite heavy price and labor would be around 1500 for whole day work if any replacement of any of the part is required.

Now i have been confused what to do, As when i read about this code P-0340 it says that its just a bad sensor with below causes.

Possible causes
1. Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor
2. Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
3. Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
4. Faulty starter motor
5. Starting system circuit
6. Dead (Weak) battery

Please suggest any Good mechanic of Nissan in Dallas area.

That sucks. I am sorry to hear about that. If you are comfortable buying parts online, we sell new OEM Nissan parts. I work from a dealer so we have our own site. Before you dump money into parts and labor, neither of which guarantee the problem will be fixed, google "P0340 keeps coming back" and do a lot of reading.
This is not rocket science, it's about electric connections and magnetic field inducing electric currents in the Hall sensor inside the CPS. There may be too much of a distance between the CPS face and magnetic teeth on the camshaft gear, or too short of a distance and the gear chipping the sensor (visually inspect), or debris accumulation in between, or bad ground in the harness, or a short circuit, or an intermittent open circuit. Read up, buy a multimeter, and diagnose this. Mechanics will just continue milking your CC.
