Repetitive Cloggin PCV Valve
 

Hello, new to the forum, hoping to gather some information here on a current situation of mine.

Vehicle Info:
2004 Nissan Maxima with the V6, 200k miles.

So, originally had to do the valve covers on this pig due to leaking like a faucet. But has now turned into a nightmare. Realized that in order to replace the spark plug tube seals, you have to replace the whole valve cover. Okay, cool what ever. Got it all done, thank god. Next day started it up and smoke came out of the exhaust..... Okay, great pcv valve. Replace it.... Was stuck... Few days later... The new pcv valve got stuck again.... Replaced it again, now being the THIRD PCV valve... What is the deal? Monday going to run up the dealer and buy a oem pcv valve.. but this is just ridiculous... Is there some other reason that this could possibly be going on?

I know that the smoke at start up is due to the pcv valve as after replacement, it will no longer smoke after start up... But my concern is, why is this happening? The oil is not old... there isn't any sludge in it.... just keeps getting stuck. Maybe just poor aftermarket design? There isn't any excessive pressure coming out the fill cap hole.... Just lost for words.

Drill out the PCV valve and run a baffled oil catch can between it and the intake manifold.

Not a lot to go on, but just a thought. The PCV valve operates on engine manifold vacuum. If you've got a vacuum leak somewhere that just might be your issue with the PCV valve.

Look around your engine compartment for loose/cracked vacuum hoses anywhere and check your vacuum reservoir for cracks/leaks.
