All I have to say is it better live up to that 4DSC badge on the window and better run 13's stock.

Um that 4DSC "sticker" looks like it's on the photo, not the car itself.

Are you kidding me? You came to that conclusion from a picture that shows nothing of it? If anything, I actually think they made the rear bumper shorter.

No. It's clearly slapped on the rear window. Why would they have two 4DSC logos in one image?

If its anything close to the 6th gen back, as it looks like it is, it definitely looks like its way too big. Just look at that bulbous curvature.

if the horse power rating is under 300 then my next maxima will be a used 5.5 M/T. ill never drive a new maxima. there are too many other auto makers with v6's that make a signifigant amount more power than the maxima, and one of them i belive is a Hauyndi

I personally can't wait to see it. The size of my current Maxima is fine with me. No bigger please...............

But I am very happy with the interior room of my 6th gen. Just please tighten up the handling from the factory.

while I have read countless posts, this is my first post on this wonderful site. The maxima is a wonderfully designed automobile. I have a 96 SE 5MT with 170k as my DD, personally, I think that anything past the 5th generation is an obscene regurgitation of the true maxima design. What made the maxima what it was, was it's logical design, power efficiency and so on. In other words the perfect japanese sedan. Built in the most logical manner. Everything was done in moderation so that it was a modestly priced killer. The 6th generation, (and suspiciously the 7th as well) are a complete antithesis to the maxima idea. Big huge fat fenders weighing down a well tuned japanese engine. By far my biggest gripe about the 6th gen is the rear window, put at such an angle that makes seeing anything more than impossible. a sheer road hazard is what the 6th and most likely , the 7th gen have become. Shame on nissan.

Now thats what I'm talkin about. But I doubt if it did run 13.9 or 14 flat that would satisfy the haters.

Imma be honest with you guys though, CVT is an absolute turn off and I won't even consider the next gen Max if it's the only option.

Are you guys serious? You can plainly see the 4DSC "sticker" has been photoshopped onto the window. Anyone who does photoshops can PLAINLY see that. Aswell as the nissan logo on the rim picture has been planted there... How can no one else see that?

Every generation complains about the next.
I agree with Lightonthehill.
With more safety features, kiss your lightweight ideals goodbye.

It still is the best bang for the buck.

Let's see what the 7th gen holds. I am eager to see it. I don't expect it to be any smaller than the 6th.

judging from what ive seen theyre wayyy past the simple squared look unless you bring up the cube, but that was competition for the toyota and honda anyways, look like theyre going for the dome shaped cars (altima 2.5, 6th gen maxima, quest, rogue)

so with that being said basically theyve moved on from squares to circles.

but if theyve ever went back to squares then id be first in line with ideals, like a 2nd gen maxima revamp with a vq35 twin turbo with the skyline atessa awd system and a 6 spt tranny. but until then i will stay with my 2nd gen and equip to my liking.

There are alot of ugly, lame cars that can run 14 flat.....

Making it fast doesn't make it look good. It can run a 12 for all I care, and I still won't buy it if it weighs 3500lbs and looks like a fat pig.

They should show some teasers picture of the interior too. That what has really disappointed me in nissan products lately. Just now with the new altima and murano they finally got their act together.

My question can a car with 3.5 or 3.7 engine, awd, 3500lb size, cvt and paddle shifters be enough to give it back the sporty feel it once had. The only thing I see a problem with is the CVT. Can they make a CVT sporty. I am sure they would not have a AWD version with a 6 speed (FWD).

as for awd questions, nissan is still using ff-l platform for the max, so it will remain a fwd as long as altima is. (meaning forever)

To the guys that want AWD so bad: Here's what Car and Driver had to say about the G35x:

"On the other hand, if you perceive all-wheel drive as a performance enhancement, you're likely to be disappointed. In almost any sedan application you care to name, all-wheel drive adds mass—that 150 pounds noted under "B" above—and it either provokes or aggravates understeer, the tendency for the car to resist steering inputs as speeds increase."

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...st+page-2.html

To top it off the G35x is limited to 130.

So? Making a RWD car into AWD = Fail. But it's a **** load better when you turn an FWD car into AWD.

Isn't there supposed to be a diesel version?

If it has over 350 torque won't the wheels just spin off the line? It well could have that much if its diesel.

meh, its not that bad, the should keep the fastback styling in my opinion so im not hating, i just hope they do a good job on the rest of the car

I think we have seen teh end of sedans weighing less than 3500lbs, the 5th gen was the last of the lightweights, the TL is in the same boat too heavy and i dont believe it has 258hp

Well guys we have to remember, the new maxima (as nissan intentioned) are not to cut in with the Sporty-smaller brother's (Altima) sales but personally i think the two should've swapped..keep the maxima sporty n the altima be the luxury sport car.. but I actually like this design aside from the tails (but i'll be able to make a more reasonable argument once all info is released)

I semi-agree with their decision to make this the luxury sport but then the other part of me is like " why not keep it just strictly a sports(family sedan ) car!!"

All i believe is the sales WILL go up just cuz the sticker is back

The 7th gen Maxima shares it's platiform with the Altima and Murano. Murano IS AWD.

murana is fwd based awd, meaning its mostly front driver until slip detected, and not a great awd either, murano awd would not work in a car because of high clearance required to clear awd bits.

The Acura RL is an AWD front wheel drive based car and is a superb AWD vehicle, I don't really care about AWD on the Maxima, I just want to see the car be a successful hit and not something that blends into the dozens of sedans already available.

AWD would be cool but as a limited option that would be added on the 7.5 gen, AWD cost more and the Maxima use to be bang for your buck performance sedan, if the CVT is our only trans then hopefully it has a sport setting cause the linear feel of going from zero to 60+ is not that exciting with the whole jet ski feel, don't really like feeling disconnected from the road.

My fingers are crossed that the 09 becomes the desired flagship it once was, but as excited as I am to see the 09 I'm not to concerned cause there are many other cars that could replace the Maxima for me, one being the G8
