Transmission swap

Haven't been on the forums in forever so pardon me if this has been covered. I have an 11 5.0 now. Anyway I may have reason to get rid of the stang soon and I'm just curious if it's possible to swap a 6spd in to the 7th gen and if it's been done...

I don't think you can swap a 6spd tranny into the 7th gen.I wish Maxima's had 6spd transmissions tho. Would have been nice If I were you, get the 7th gen cause the gas mileage is great. I spend roughly $26.00 every week to fill up my tank when it's close to half. I go to school every other day and it's a 42 mile drive back and fourth. The only time it would eat a lot of gas is when you always floor it and speed. My rule for saving gas is to obey the speed limits

on a older car it wouldnt take much work but on a modern car with all these electronics you'd prolly need a team of engineers to pull it off.

That has been my experience too.

my rule for saving gas is keep it under 2000 RPMs. obeying speed limits help, but if you still floor it to accelerate TO that speed limit your mileage will suck

Very much true, keeping under 2000rpm and ranging between 60 and 80 mph. But how many times can you floor to accelerate to that range? So, staying within the range generally keeps your gas.

Yes, Low RPMs is a very important factor in saving gas. The CVT gives us the opportunity to hold the RPMs down, even as we gradually accellerate to cruising speed. I look at the tach far more than I look at the speedo.

yeah somethin to keep in mind is if you floor it even just once you'll see a big drop in your mileage. when you floor it you're just pouring gas into your engine, especially for those of us with aftermarket mods (without a tune) that are running a rich A/F mixture.

Hm. It really could be difficult (and unfulfilling) staying within the range with the Max; the car glides.

If I accelerate slowly it sounds very noisy. Do you experience that as well?

Look at my mod list, you don't think I keep mine under 2000 RPMs all the time do you? Lol I was just stating that like any car if you keep the RPMs down, which the CVT tranny makes quite easy in this car, your mileage will drastically increase. I've seen big dips even with keeping it under 4k

that doesn't sound normal, my car is pretty quiet unless I really throttle it
