Ipod 4th gen Nano questions

I have now had my 09 Maxima for about 2 months, great car and very good all around. Lately I purchased a new Nano iPod and connected it with the Nissan Supplied cable, apparently the new version of the iPod is not supported by Nissan and therefore the iPod will not recharge while connected. Has anyone found a different cable that will charge the iPod? worse comes to worse I suppose I can go back to the old iPod but would rather not.

Thank you for your help

If you scroll around, you'll see a question for the iphone. It has the same issue and a few items were found.

Sandisk Sansa MP3 Player

I have a Sansa MP3 player made by Sandisk. Is there any cable available or anyway to use the mp3 player in the 09 Maxima without using a radio frequency and actually plugging the mp3 player into the ipod connection??

It seems kind of ignorant to me for Nissan to make an IPOD connection without making some accessory to use other MP3 players. Thanks in advance.

Mine has RCA type jacks for AUDIO L, R and Video In.

thats where I plug my Zune into.

I suspect thats part of the "Tech" package.

I never thought of that. I have the tech package. So you bought a cable that has a small headphone connection on one end and a RCA (red/white) connection on the other end? Does it sound good and is the volume adequate?

Mine has the tech package and i also have the rca connections, here is the catch, if you connec your iPod to the RCA connections you can not control the iPod from the stereo, you need to control the iPod directly, which is kind of lame....in short I think I will go back to using a generation 3 iPod to end all this as I had no problems with that version of the iPod. Thanks for asking

My car came with the factory Nissan to iPod connection, the issue is I bought a new iPod (gen 4) which apparently Nissan does not support, so the iPod does not get recharged. While is still works I can only use it for 3 day tops before I need to recharge it. It's just kind of inconvenient. I think I'll just go back to the gen 3 iPod. thanks for asking.

Works great. Exactly what it was designed for. Tho YOU have to control your device and your radio won't.

BTW, my zune came with that cable for hooking up to home stereo systems and such. Pretty common cable.

This is what you will need to correct the problem. It was found in the Iphone thread in the 7th gen
