Hi Guys,
I am not a huge fan of the Rims I recently bought my Maxima with (FAST WHEELS - Jazz, 18). So, I am considering getting nicer wheels down the road. Because I never dealt with the procedure in the past, I have several TMPS sensors related questions please:
1) If I buy Wheel/Tire Packages online, am I pretty much obligated to buy TPMS with them too? If yes, is it only Nissan dealership that can program the new TPMS?
2) If I buy the new Rims only and would like to reuse my current TPMS, is it a fairly routine task for ANY Tire shop to switch my TPMS from the old to the new wheels correctly (I assume the sensors would NOT need to be reprogrammed then?)?

How do you guys go around this when purchasing these beautiful Rims seen in this thread?
Thank you very much in advance!

Tpms

in regards to TPMS....your are not obligated to purchase them. However, your tire pressure light will consistently be on while you drive which some people can ignore and some people can not. I can not. Nissan dealership will charge you over $100 bucks for a 15 min job. Most local tire shops with the latest equipment can re-learn them. I got mines re-learned for $10 bucks a wheel and they were done in 20 minutes. Nissan quoted me $165 due to labor since jobs takes them an hour a half.

TPMS cont

by the way...I purchased an extra set of sensors rather than switching them out. I didn't want to have deal with dismount and remount when and if I should go back to factory wheels. Costs about $50 per sensor...might be able to find them a little cheaper if you shop around online.

Can the car learn two sets? If you have winter and summer, have to learn each time you swap for seasons?

Just took my wheels off due to a bend in one of the wheels and put the factories back on with original TPMS. System would not recognize sensors. So from what Im guessing is that system will only recognize one set at a time.

Question

Anyone know if it's possible to run 245/45r20 tires on the Max. I know some of you guys are running 22s but I live in NY and have had too many flats running 245/35 so i wanna get a thicker tire. Let me know

Now that I have a clear view of my calipers + rotors, I plan on cleaning them up soon, lol.

Just got these beauties in the mail yesterday, picked them up from a fellow .org'r. I feel they compliment the setup pretty well, 20x8.5 all around with 245/40.

I put probably over 200k miles on Eibachs/Progress over the years on just my Maximas. Provided the install is correct, the bump stop gets cut and the alignment it's all good!

My tried and true daily driver mod list is always (wheels/tires, struts/springs, RSB), done deal.

Good deal. So with springs I should replace the struts too? Wouldn't that almost be just like getting coils? And what do you mean cut the bump stop?

You should replace the struts with something of a better quality if adding a spring. I got away with the stock struts for roughly 40k miles before swapping with Eibachs and Progressive springs.

A quality set of coilovers are the best bet provided you use a decent riding set. The price however does not offset the advantage in a daily driven sedan that needs some ground clearance. Coilovers would be great for maximum adjustability including, ride height, spring rate, pre-load, camber/caster settings etc... I have been there done that

and frankly all I need is a quality strut with a good coil and I am good.

Cut bump stops? I mean there is a rummber isolator in the strut that prevents the strut from bottoming out over bumps.

This is usually taller than necessary to deliver a progressive "stop" than an abrupt one. I cut them in half to give myself more travel when using lowering springs before hitting "bottom".

370z Rays with different lugs

OK guys so I finally tested mounting my new Rays Eng rims and there doesn't seem to be any clearance issues with 19x10's and 275's in the back (see attached).

I had purchased Rays chrome lugs (see attached) for mounting these rims but they don't seem to be very secure.

Can I only use the 370z factory lugs or can I go with some slim extended lugs that have the proper mounting shank? I don't want to mark up the rims too much (as it seems the OEM lugs would do) but would still like to lock them somehow.

Thanks!

Rays Eng rims spacer

Also hoping you guys can weigh in on what spacer I should look at for the front 19x9 rims when using the 19x10 rims and 275's in the back. After reading many posts I realize most of those with these rims are using 245's on all four corners.

I've read some are suggesting 10mm offset up front but when purely eyeing the difference it looks like 15mm or more might be better.

Also for a newbie, please point me to links or your recommendations on lug or hub centric options for spacers.

Your thoughts?

Thanks!

Can I fit 22x9.5 30 offset front and back

Can I fit 22x9.5 30 offset front and back on my 2011 maxima. I am in Afghanistan and am trying to buy new wheels. Not too savy on the whole wheel size thing. I currently have 22"s on my maxima right now

9" et35 is flush with the fender in the rear, so 9.5 et30 will stick out 1/2"
No, they won't fit.

So is it possible for me to get 22x9.5 on my car. This guy got 19x10 to fit on his. I'm trying to find out if 22x9.5 will fit before I cancle my wheel order. I already have 22s on my Max, but I don't know the specs. I'm in Afghanistan right now and can't find out.

I see then 40-45mm should do just like MaximaDrvr said. You don't have any camber so they should sit flush if thats what your looking for.
