What is the average age of the 7th Gen owner? Is it yours?
 

I was curious to see the wide spread ages this car attracts. How many people are your age? How many land on the low end, high end and where the majority is. Is this someones first vehicle ever?

Dont be shy of telling your age. Personally, I am 25. I have loved Maximas since I have been old enough to drive a car. I have never been able to own one until now because I could not afford one that was still in the mileage range that I felt comfortable buying a car in. So I guess I could say Im 25, first time owner, long time lover. Whats your story?

I'm 36. I have always had fast truck/cars (600 hp Cobra last car just before my Dodge 2500 diesel), but never luxury. I saw the Max one day while driving the bumpy Dodge home and sped up to see what had just past me. I figured it was a 60K Lexus or something. When I saw that it was a Nissan Maxi I got excited. Anyway a week later the dodge was gone and the Maxi was in my garage. Impulse buy but I found the right deal at the right time and too top it off had just bought my wife a 2009 Volvo XC90 AWD 4 weeks before.

Got it when I was 18, now I'm 19. Before I had a 1985 Mustang GT, then a 2008 Hyundai Accent.

39. I never spent more than 30K on a car but when I test drove other cars, Maxima stood out and decided to break the 30K barrier. I got the SV since it is leather. I have always had leather. It's fast, very comfortable, and feels and looks luxurious without spending more money for Infinity, Lexus, and other higher end cars. Great Bose speakers.

In short, I LOVE THIS FN THING! :clap:

I'm 30, owned an 06 when I was 25 so this is my 2nd, I love the all around performance and luxury features, and the fact that most people over look the car;)

I'm 36. Had a TSX before this and wanted something a little bigger. My wife actually talked me into getting it as I wasn't really looking for a car at the time.

I'm 25, and this is my third Maxima. I drove a '86 Max in high school and then picked up a '03 GLE (which I currently still have) and recently bought a '10 S last December. I think it's one of the best bang for your buck cars out there (at this price range, of course).

27. It's the first Maxima that i've bought. My old roommates dad gave me a '90 Maxima when he ran my Camaro into the wall on I240, but i only kept it for about a month before i sold it. Looked at the 370z to replace my 350, but decided i wanted more than 2 seats this time around. That about sums it up.

Just hit 55...age, not the speed limit. I'm on my eighth Maxima dating back to 1987. (Insert your "aren't you bored" joke here). Each time I tell my wife that I'm going out to get a new car, she doesn't ask "what kind?" Instead she just asks "what color?".

55. First Maxima and import. Loving every moment of it. Been a GM man all my life last two cars were 90 Bonneville SSE and 2000 Bonneville SLE. Still have my GM pick up though.lol

28 here. It's funny to see all the people like ourselves who have migrated to Nissan from Obama Motors. Before this car I had:

Why would you vote as an owner of a 7th gen if you don't have one?

I bought a 2010 Chevy Equinox last August (my first Chevy) during the Clunkers program because it looked great and gas mileage was great. Had for a few months and hated it! There's a ticking noise that they say it's part of the engine. It wasn't there when I bought it and it drove me nucking futs. Aside from that, after taking a closer look after I bought it, I discovered it's not well built. Wires/cables hanging under the seat that you can see from the back seat and many more. Had to trade it in before 2011 version came around. That's when I discovered the new Max. I wasn't crazy about the previous gens, but the 7th gen is really to my liking. Awesome choice...I think I'm in love with the damn car. :goofy:

I am amazed at the amount of people under the age of 25 that can afford a car priced over 30k. I have had 5 cars in my life and this is by far the nicest car I have ever owned.

Don't feel bad. I guess this is technically the 8th car i've owned. Almost 1 for every year i've been driving :laugh: The moral of the story is don't let your friends/roommates drive your cars because most likely they won't come back in 1 piece :rolleyes:

Sound like your insurance must be ridiculous!

I had about 1/3 of the money saved up when I walked into the dealership and I also traded in my 300zx which I had bought with cash. Sometimes I forget how easy it was living with my parents.

Not bad really. $75 a month for full coverage. All of the accidents were 5+ years ago so they're off of my insurance at this point.

I'm 26 and this is my second maxima ... first was a 1997, now I have the 2009.

Ever since I joined the .org back in 2001, I have constantly been amazed by the proportion of current-generation owners who are under 30. Shock is a better description for when it comes to those under 20, since a new anything was completely out of the question for me at that age. Never mind a marque flagship.


Just to be clear, I did not skew the poll by voting. But I was 38 when we bought our 2nd Gen (our first car with A/C) and 54 when we got the 5th Gen in early 2001. Old, and really old, by the results so far of this poll.

The number of under 25 owners is truly remarkable. I am jealous in some regards because my first car was a Ford Pinto with a 1.6 L engine. With a tail wind, it could pull in a 12 sec 0-60 mph.

Congratulations to these youngsters who have the judgment and Benjamins to buy a Max.

If a 25 year old can own a house then a 25 year old can own a car as nice as the 7th gen. Like I posted earlier, this is my first new car ever! I never liked the idea of buying a new car because of the depreciation thing. I think its a better deal to buy one some one else has already lost money on. That was my idea initially. I looked at a 09 with 6,000 miles on it. The color wasnt one I liked at all but it was 27,900. I was talked out of it by another dealer in lieu of a brand new one with the options and color of my choice. Compaired to the used one I was looking at buying, the new one had Navigation and was a sports model with 16 miles. At $4,000 more than the used one I was looking at I thought it was a pretty good deal. The navigation upgrade alone is $2,000 plus a color I got to choose... (this being my first new car I have never been able to choose the color before, just got the color that came with the best deal) I also thought about it like this because it made me feel better about my choice... At a payment of $500 a month it would take atleast 5 months to put 6000 miles on a car. That would be a difference of $2500 from a car with 6,000 miles compaired to a car with 16 miles. If you add that to the price of the Navigation then the two come out about equal plus I got to choose a color I liked better and have the piece of mind that no one had dogged the car during the breakin and did some long term damage. I thought the new car compaired pretty well with the used one.

Since everyone else is listing their older cars I will as well...

1.) A 1988 Chevrolet S-10 purchased for $1,000 dollars from a Junkyard. It was 4x4 but the 4x4 didnt work. (traded into carmax for $2,ooo. They didnt even test the 4x4!!!haha)
2.) A 1995 Chevrolet S-10 (traded In)
3.) A 1999 Honda Accord (traded In @ 100,000 miles)
4.) A 2003 Honda Accord (Very reliable, Not one problem.. Sold to my father @ 97,000 miles and still Kickin today)
5.) A 2010 Nissan Maxima SV Sport + tech pack w/ navigation

Well, I will take credit for the good judgement to buy one, but I do have to give the financial credit to my dad haha.

I'm also 36. I had just had my Jeep serviced at a Nissan/Jeep dealer and spotted the 09 Maxima. It was lust at first sight. My wife having an 08 Accord lease we managed to trade it in for the 10 SV premium in Crimson Black. I became a hater and decided to see if I could get an S model with my Jeep as a trade. It worked out better than I thought since I was able to get the 10 SV with cold package for the same payments as my Jeep. The funny thing is I was looking to sell the Jeep and save some money. Now I'm just 150% happier making the payments.

Hey IH8SPM, welcome to the forum and congrats of your two new maximas you lucky SOB you. I was wondering, on you car selection does it say you have the premium and cold pkg? I thought the premium included the cold pkg like the navigation includes the tech pkg. Is that tru?

IH8SPM may have ducked out to see the Lyrid Meteros shower. I understand him to be saying his wife has a '10 SV Maxima with Premium package, and he has a '10 SV Maxima with Cold package.

You are correct that the Premium package (as well as the Sport package) includes the Cold package features (heated steering wheel, heated outside mirrors and heated front seats).
