I'm hearing a low clunck under the car

I've been hearing once in awhile I hear a low clunk when the car is in park has anyone experience this under passenger side.

Not me...

I've never encountered that, but for anyone who finds this thread in the future, it is normal to have a clunk as you pass 20 MPH for the first time after starting up.

Yea I get that all the time, it never bothered me because I experienced that same exact thing in my dad's car.

How different is this klunk at 20 mph from the vibration reported in the TSB's as a fault with the transmission?

alexdi Dec 26, 2010 07:47 AM

The transmission TSB is a response to the CVT's tendency to lug the engine at part-throttle. This induces a low-frequency resonance perceived as a booming sound. The TSB reprograms the CVT to hold higher engine speeds that won't cause the resonance. The 20 MPH clunk has something to do with automatic brake calibration; it's unrelated.
