09 Max Hit in the right rear :-(

OK, so it's not horrific, but it is the SECOND time the back of my car has been hit...

First, let me say, the first time, my Max survived extremely well, considering the girl who hit me (I was stopped at a red light which had just changed to green) was doing about 40 MPH. The damage was mostly cosmetic, and I didn't suffer any broken lights or any structural damage. Just a mildly mangled back (on me), and back end (on the car).

That brings me to this second incident. Car is parked, in an area where no other cars should be near it. Well, someone decided to try and squeeze past my Max, and a telephone pole, and in the process, took out my right rear tail light assembly, scuffed the hell out of my bumper, and cracked the bumper cover in TWO different places.

I don't even want to know what it's going to cost to get it fixed. And of course the SOB who did it (I think it was a cab driver considering the scuffs are BRIGHT yellow) didn't even bother to stop and see who's car it was, leave a note, or anything.

Does anyone know where I can find a tail light assembly at a reasonable price? The cheapest I have found so far is around $229 + S&H...

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks all -

what side are you looking for? driver or passenger side tail light.

I think there was an ad in the 7th gen classifieds for a taillight assembly, drivers side. May want to check there if you're in the market for a light.

thats not good man, sorry about your luck there. if you were to get that done at a local shop my bet is that you are looking at 2k or so to have it fixed. That is just my guess, im not a body shop guy. Doesn't your insurance cover hit and runs?

LVleo78 02-10-2011 12:47 AM

I have full coverage, so they will cover it, but I have a $500 deductible. The one body shop I have gotten an estimate from (thats all I have had time for so far) said I was looking at $800 -$1400 to make the repairs & get the parts. The Light (new) from the stealership is almost $300.
