Bent rims
I got service done at nissan today and they told me i have three bent SPORT rims. I am so pissed. I have never curbed them or anything. I live in New York so it must be the pot holes. They told me it would cost $2400 plus taxes to replace. I cant afford that so im just leaving them the way they are. Sorry just venting but thanks nissan for the ****ty rims

Unfortunately with the state of roads its happening more and more.............No way in hell would I pay that much for some new stock rims, if is not really giving you vibration at speed I would not worry about and keep it the way it is adn keep the worse off rims in the rear. Or you could take it to a place like this that repairs rims for a substantially less. http://www.wheeltechnologies.com/

how much does repairing them usually cost.. and can u repair alloy rims
|
I can get u this in 19" with 5x114 bolt pattern , tpms compatible for 1000 shipped so don't spend too much on replacements. that's a total rip off.

It depends how bad the bend is . I had a slight bend and fixed some curb rash for my vessels for $150 for 1 rim. Looks like new again.
|
Tell me about it bro...my 5th gen wheels taking a beating..just get some aftermarkets for the summer..

The lower the profile of the tire, the less protection it gives the rims.
I have seen folks on other car boards moaning about bent 19" rims. Most folks with 19" rims are using 40 or lower profile tires, which give the rim no protection from potholes. 18" rims with 45 profile tires are slightly less likely to bend. Some folks on boards of other makes such as Honda, Toyota, etc, have replaced their 18" and 19" rims and 40 or 45 profile tires with 17" rims with 50 profile tires. Less maneuverability, less crisp handling, but more money in the pocket because of less ruined tires and rims. The REAL problem is caused by severe budget cuts that leave no money to fix potholes, combined with two of the worst winters in recent memory back-to-back. |

I got my set of stock 19's for $1200 with tires/TMPS sensors with maybe 500 miles on them. Before I'd get another set I'd definitely go look at some aftermarket wheels cause the stock rims are nice but not That nice.. |
Thanks guys for all the feedback. NY rim fix said they will repair each rim for $119. I never got my rims repaired but that doesnt sound like a bad fix at all. Just worried about the durability of the rims after they are repaired

Its not that the rims are soft, like others said, these Low pro tires offer no protection when it comes to bump. There is very little rubber to absorb contact.
|
I've read other peoples reviews comparing them to other 19s and they seem to bend easily in comparison.

The snow plows in the Atlanta metro area scraped all the reflectors (millions of them) off all the roadways, and the budget crunch prevents replacing them. Driving at night or in the rain is now very difficult around where I live. |

Yeah! Most definitely an error on the pricing of that 2011 19inch wheel. I have the 2010 wheels and got one bent a while back. Got it fixed at a local place here in Houston for $70. Wheel is back to its original condition. Can't tell anything happened to it. So, it could have cost you like $210 here in Houston to get all 3 fixed. I hope you find a cost-effective solution to it.

It happens my car insurance would cover this. Have you checked?
|
Claiming insurance might not be worth it, higher monthly rates, combined with a possibly high premium could be devastating.
Id look around on craigslist, see if you can find some stock rims, or hell, just go aftermarket. |

Tire and Wheel Hazard Protection
Finance guy tried to sell me wheel and tire hazard protection for $400 - said that one rim cost $1,200 to replace - he must be b.s.'ing me right?
I'm leasing - what if I return the car with different (but the same size) rims - would that be a problem? |
I took my 2009 SV Spork Package Max into a tire shop today as I thought I had a slow puncture on the front right. Turns out there was a large crack on the inside of the 19" OEM rims.... The state of the roads here in L.A. are beyond **** but I know for a 24ct fact I have not hit a big pot hole in a very long time....
Spoke to Santa Monica Nissan, they said as I had done over 36K miles the warranty didn't cover it. Brilliant, just brilliant. |

When I bought my '09 SV plus Premium, one of the reasons I did not consider the Sport package was that roads across the country are falling into disrepair, and I knew there would be minimum maintenance done until this recession is over - maybe 2015 or so.
Having rims over 18" on this Maxima means having tires with very low profile - 40 or lower. Rims larger than 19" will need profiles around 35 or lower. This matters because the lower the profile, the smaller the height of the sidewall. The smaller the height of the sidewall, the less protection the tire can give the rim, and the more damage potholes will do to both tire and rim. |

2nd weak after I had the car, I hit a pot hole on the Belt Parkway and completely bent my front rim. Not bad actually when you take into consideration the size of the whole I hit, but to replace the tire and the rim, Nissan wanted about $1000.00 not including labor. Ridiculous
|
http://www.wheelfixitny.com/ They sell rims and fix rims.
|
i def wanna go to the dealer and see if i can work out some sort of deal to get the 2011 19" put on my 09, my 19" have some curb rash nothing terrible, but i like the finish on the 11's better anyway ill let u guys know if they can do anything, i also have the wheel/tire package where if i have a hole in a tire in the sidewall (that cant be patched) or a bent rim that prevents it from driving normally, nissan replaces it for free, thinking about getting the 11's 19" wheels and then slicing my sidewall in all 4 tires for a whole new set up haha

Even the 18" wheel bent easily. Had to replace 2 after 4 months of ownership...
|
a small bend doesn't necessarily mean u have to junk the wheel, often times a rebalancing will work out the kinks and get u bank in specs.
but yeah, sounds like a lot of u are complaining of bends occuring from minor impact. wheels these days are made cheaply, 99 percent of oem wheels are come from factories in china, even the ones for mercedes, bmw, audi, etc. maybe, just maybe the higher quality forged wheels like the ones for mercedes AMG may come from higher quality factories but the bulk of them are all from cheap manufacturing facilities in china. It lowers the cost which means higher profit margins for car companies. all prestigious wheel manufacturing companies have shut down or about to shut down...the only remaining quality wheel manufacturers that exists are wheel foundries in japan like work, ssr, rays. |
just go to dunnsports they charge about $80 each rim
http://dunnsport.com/ try to get there when they open up because there is ALWAYS a line there and YOU WILL be there for at least an hour just a heads up.... theres another spot in queens i heard that charges about $65 per wheel but i never used them so i wouldn't know how reliable they are. and yes the 19' sport wheels are ****TY QUALITY i have 19inch xxr wheels and hit a few serious bumps but they never gotten bent or anything these 19' sports bend so easy its unreal, and they heavy as fvk also so i dont know where nissan skimmed on the quality |
We have a nice company about 30 min out of montreal that sell's stock wheels and repairs them VERY well for not so much money (less than 100 per wheel).
If you ever pass by... never know here their website : http://www.pjacques.com/?language=en |
Any wheel 17 inch up that aren't forged are highly prone to bend with the state of our roads. Since most of them from those sizes come with -50 and smaller tires they are highly prone to bent rims, now if the started producing those sizes in -60/65 as they did not all that many years ago this would happen alot less. ;)
|
only 1 person mentioned this, but go back to nissan and ask if you can add the rim/tire warranty protection. i think its called something like "multi-shield". it cost me $525 in NJ and i already had 1 rim replaced, which would have been $600+. So i already made my money back. Covers all flats, rim bends, and paint chips/scratches along with windshield chips. good luck.
|
Havnet had a problem with my 19in wheels, and Ive hit a few potholes here and there. They are holding up very well.

I'm leasing - what if I return the car with different (but the same size) rims - would that be a problem? owned my car for 2 weeks, blew out the sidewall on a rock in the middle of the road. $250 tire, this coverage almost paid for itself! lolol still got 4 years, 11 months and 9 days of coverage left! |
