Car won't turn over...starter problem???

I have a 2009 type S. Today I installed a HID kit for my fog light, disengaged the ground lead from the battery while installing the kit, put it back in and out a couple time to test the kit and when I'm finished installing and tried to start the car it won't comes on!!!

Battery seems to be fine, all the interior lights and dash lights are one. The car won't turn over for some reasons and all I hear is 2 clicking sounds, one from the fuse box and another somewhere in the engine, I'd would imagine it's the starter problem.

Jump started the battery and still the car won't turn over. Going to tow the car to a mechanic shop tomorrow.

Anyone with this issue?

Have you checked EVERY SINGLE FUSE on the car?? Like ALL of them (under hood and inside)?

Sounds like a fuse issue to me.

Give us better description...you put your foot on brake, gear selector in P or N and when you hit start button it goes OFF -> ACC -> ON(start)...then clicks twice and does what?? Stays ON??

Trav

Try locking/unlocking the car. I've dealt with cars in the past that act weird when you disconnect the battery.

Put my foot on brake then press power button, hear a click somewhere near the fuse box then another click somewhere else and that's all it does. Car is in park of course.

It won't turn over and the check engine service light came on.

Tried everything bud, still no luck!

Any other ideas?

The battery hasn't been replace yet and I read on forums that the factory battery is really crappy and went out fast. I got done installing at 8 so all the car shops are closed, couldn't get a battery to test it. I'll try replacing the battery after work tomorrow and if it doesn't work I'd guess I have to tow it to the dealer.

I would have the battery tested first before replacing it, since they are in the $100 range for a good one.

Does the LCD display on the dashboard say anything at all? You said the service engine soon light is on. Is the ignition ON at that point? Are there any other dashboard lights coming on? WITHOUT trying to start it (foot NOT on the brake), will it cycle from OFF to ACC and to ON when pressing the pushbutton? Will the headlights come on? Interior lights? Door locks work?

that click click noise you hear is the throttle body test....can u make a video of what exactly happens when you push the starter button?

sounds like your immobilizer system got scrambled or a fuse blew out....i dont know why u bothered disconnecting battery just to install HIDs

try disconnecting battery for 15 minutes and connecting it again this time remove BOTH positive and neg terminals

and put + first then the -

check your MAS make sure its security put in ....just trying to eliminate probable cause...its not ur battery because lights wouldnt turn on and when u go to turn it on you will hear the car trying to turn over then it will die meaning all lights will turn off, thats what happened when my battery died.

Headlight, interior light, and dashboard works when turn to ACC or On. It would cycle through ACC and On.

Dashboard shows all the indicators (i.e. traction control, airbag, brake, check engine) as when you first start your engine but remain on and the symbol triangle with the exclamation mark inside came on also..

I was running wires into my dashboard for a toggle switch for the fog, I had to join a few wires so as a precaution I took out the negative lead.

Will post a video of it later today.

When I cycle pushbutton from OFF -> ACC -> ON my dashboard will light everything up momentarily, but the lights that REMAIN on are only 4 (or 5)

Service Engine Soon (check engine light)
Oil light
Battery/charge light
Brake light

The malfunction indicator light (triangle with exclamation) is on IF a door is open. When all doors are closed, it turns off.

If ALL the lights remain on...well then...I am clueless.

My guess is, first, a dead battery.

Solved! The positive lead cable from the battery to the starter was loosened in the process of hooking up the power cable of the HID kit into the battery.

I did not tightened it enough so there was not enough current to start the starter. Tighten it and the car turns back on :)

Glad to hear that's all it was I assume you installed a relay?
