I've had plus size wheels on every car I've owned (4), and the wheels never gave me any problems. I think the biggest difference in 22s would probably be the MPG due to the added weight. I get 16 or 17 MPG in the city. And they are more likely to be damaged from potholes. So you have to make sure to check the PSI and keep it high. After 15k miles with my 22s and 90% city driving, I still have 70% of meat left on my front brake pads. But like I said many times before, the size of the wheels don't make a car look good. The design of the wheels are most important.

Another thing to consider is forged or cast wheels. Forged wheels are lighter and stronger and are made to order for a perfect fit. Cast wheels are heavier and the sizes and widths are very limited. So if you get 22s and want to keep the weight down, forged wheels would be a better option.
