Plasti dip taillights...

Has anyone tried plasti dipping tail lights? I am weary of using the spray on stuff as it is pretty permanent. I went the tiny film
Route but failed with that...so just considering plasti dip.. We don't have the glossifiers in Canada so it would look matte black.. What do you guys think?

Nemo7 06-09-2012 01:51 AM

not a good idea plasti dip isn't permanent but I'm pretty sure nothing will go through the paint

funnyman82 06-09-2012 05:36 AM

Actually I have seen videos and it's not as bad as you would think..

ChrisMan287 06-09-2012 06:41 AM

Why?

Ghozt 06-09-2012 07:35 AM

plastidip is not permanent but would be an odd material to use for tail lights. i dont imagine light will shine through it so you'd be making your tails illegal and pretty dangerous for the guy driving behind you

^^^this.... not only.is plasticip NONtransparent ,in a rear end accident the guy behind you usually gets the "at fault" mark for following to closely.... if you were to get rear ended it would be his fault but YOU would be the **** for having tails that arent noticeable...either nightshades or custom tails of gtfo...just my opinion cause if i hit someone becuse of their stupidity and got marked at fault id FLIP

Ok guys not to worry.. I have decided not to go this route... Thx for your input...

Funnyman82 theres a plasti dip paint called smoke check it out.... i know a couple people who used it and it looks nice but needs glossifier...

Papies01 06-09-2012 10:56 PM

Really? Smh

hamzer11 06-10-2012 11:58 AM

While i understand why the idea might sound silly, has anyone actually looked at the youtube video? It's daytime footage and the lights look plenty bright to me.

I think it's the smoke version though.

funnyman82 06-10-2012 03:25 PM

I wish they had the glossifier in Canada :(

anomaly117 06-10-2012 03:30 PM

i had no idea plastidip was transparent...

Amerikaner83 06-10-2012 03:35 PM

the ONLY way to do this is ONE LIGHT APPLICATION. Most plasti-dip applications call for re-spreay 2 or 3 times...but one light application *could* replicate the niteshades look I suppose.
