Can someone tell me what size socket do i need to remove the cv axle nut at the brake rotor where the cotter pin on a maxima 09?

32mm socket will be needed. If this is the original axle, then I HIGHLY recommend getting an impact wrench, I used the Milwaukee M18 Fuel 1/2" impact driver to get mine off since I ended up breaking my breaker bar trying to get it off.

Great, thanks! One more question, once removing the axle from the tranny, is going to drain all the fluid?

It won't drain all of the fluid, but expect some to leak out once the CV axle is pulled out of the hole. I did my passenger side first, followed by my driver's side. None came out of my passenger side when I pulled it out, but about half a quart came out when I pulled out the drivers side. Although, at that same time I figured out that my transmission fluid had been overfilled by the dealership from 2 weeks before when I had them do a drain and fill, so there's no guarantee that you will experience the same amount of fluid released. I also think it helped to have just the front of the car on jacks rather than having the entire vehicle level while lifted.

Also note, many guides will tell you to pull straight on the axle to get it to pop out, that is very accurate. I ended up having to turn the wheel a bit to free up some space to pull straight on the axle and it popped out pretty easily after a couple yanks.
