Won't start for second time this week. New starter?

Greetings folks. I've got a 2009 and wondered if anyone's had their starter replaced yet. Mine has stranded us twice this week. The first time, after a jump, we drove it to the dealership and everything checked out. Battery, alternator, and starter all tested out. Tonight it just did it again. Stop at a friend's house for 10 minutes, go back out to start it up and, click, click click. Wait 15 minutes, and VROOM it's fine. Take it home, try it immediately, fires up. Wait 15 minutes, fires up.

It has to be starter, battery, or alternator, right? If they all test out good, what do I do, just start replacing parts until it stops giving me trouble?

Unrelated, anyone want to buy a 2009 Maxima with 110k miles? <crickets>

It has to be the battery. I know you said everything checked out fine and all but if you have that Click Click sound your talking about I believe it's the Batt. I just had a new starter put in last week for the price of $700 excluding the Tow in. The morning of I Tryed to get it going it wouldn't do anything when the eng button pushed. They called it (Nissan) a Dead spot in the starter. And now it fires up with no hesitation. So I "Suggest" go invest in a battery and I bet it'll solve all your probs. -I also own a 09. Jus sayin

Factory battery? If so, you're lucky that it lasted this long!

On my last car (99 accord v6) I had a similar sounding problem, everything checked out but car would just sit there and click and not start, usually when it was a warmer day. After my mechanic (who I never went back to after this month of trial and error) told me battery first then alternator them starter and ignition coils, I found out it was a 12 dollar relay. Spent 750 replacing good parts when it ended up being a DIY 12 dollar project

Have you checked the threads about the fuse for the steering locking mechanism? Not sure if this is what you have, but it might be worth looking into it if the rest checks out OK.

Mine did the same thing every once in a while it turned out to be the battery for me . The new one sounds so much better now as the car cranks a lot faster , the oem battery really is undersized
