Lost both key fobs

Well today was the most retarded day of my life and easily my crappiest entry to a forum.

I have an 09 Maxima that I have had since, well, 09

Came with 2 "Intelligent Keys" and 1 metal tag with the number combination printed on it that you need in case you lose your keys, which I kept on the same key ring as one of my intelligent keys.

Last year I had the first key fob stolen, the one that has the metal tag on it. So now I only have 1 key fob left, at which point I should have gotten a spare programmed. I'm didn't do it. I'm an idiot.

So now I can't get drive my car or even get into it. At the moment, I literally have NO keys to my car- no key fobs, no valet keys, no intelligent keys, no metal tags with recovery code- nothing, nada

So my question now is, what do I do ???? & how much $$ am I looking at to get out of this mess & how do I go about fixing this problem?

All responses would be really appreciated! Thanks

Okay, I actually found another metal tag with the 5 digit code that I had put away with the title.

Can I get a key fob replacement with this code without having to tow my car to the dealership ??

Yes. Take it (the tag) to a dealer. Be prepared to spend a much of cash for a new fob, though.

$350-400 per key, if you have the code. If you didn't ~1k for reprogramming and let set and not to mind the headaches if you have a remote starter...

Is that 5 digit code always on a metal ring ? I'm not sure if I ever got that. Is there anyplace else it may have been placed when my car was delivered or anyway I can find out what the code is ?

Thanks

If you think you might loose the new ones, then there are transponders out there that are attached to key fobs and other easily lost items that can be tracked by smart phones.

Hey guys check out this company...Car Keys Express(.com)

I picked up my '12 with only 1 key and the dealership uses this company to cut/copy/reprogram keys. They are only charging me $100 for another one.

They basically have Account Managers that hop around to different dealerships doing this. You set up a time and just go meet with one.

The dealer is telling me the 5 digit code was on one of the key fobs, I have never even used one remote and my car is 5 months old so I never removed it off of either remote this I am sure.

I asked them if there is any way to find out what the code is, waiting to hear back

My question is this, as long as I have one working remote can another remote be programmed without knowing the code ? The dealership told me they can program the key using the VIN

Thanks

A simple suggestion many people overlook....
I used a local locksmith years back to program a new (replacement) key fob for my Camry. The guy got his book out and said he would give it a shot and it worked, charged me $35. I had bought the key fob from the dealer but balked when they wanted another $90 + to program it.

The dealer told me the VIN number works the same as the code and the cost for a new intelligent key and programming is the same as if you had the code

I don't believe these keys can be programmed by anyplace but the dealer so do you think not having the code matters ? Thanks
