you would be shocked what the maxima can do !

here in Michigan we got one of my friends who own an private track , its about a mile down with a few curves its usually for bikes but this past weekend he decided to call up all the cars in Detroit area " our buddies " of-course. so we LEGALLY had 30mph roll race on a SAFE TRACK no street racing .

this is what i ran against in my maxima : all races are from a 30 mph until 110mph

WS6 TRANS AM AUTOMATIC = beat me by 3 car length

2012 CHARGER RT = beat him by a car length

2013 300S V8 = beat him by a car length

2004 350z MANUAL = beat him by a car length

2003 350z AUTOMATIC = beat him by car and half

2007 JEEP SRT8 = beat me by a car and a half

2011 CAMARO V6 = beat him by 3 cars length

2013 MUSTANG V6 = beat him by a car and a half

2001 CAMARO Z28 = neck and neck

2002 MUSTANG GT 32 VALVE = beat me by 3 cars ( raced a regular gt I took him by 2 cars if not more )

all this was done legally we where there all day , honestly i was not expecting this outcome my modds are stillen ud pulley , aam competition exhaust and k&n 69 typhoon series . I would start of manually at 1rst gear at 30-35mph then hit it in drive .

Nice, sometimes I feel like it has a sluggish start but that engine just keeps pulling and pulling

That's awesome. I was at the track just as a spectator last night. Kept wondering how my max would do if I actually ran it.

Yeah...a bit like a slow moving cow until the "cattle prod" kicks in!

I am not too surprised by those results, because 30 MPH to 110 MPH is a range in which the 7th gen Maxima excels. A tad sluggish off the line, but somewhere around 30 MPH is where the 7th gen Maxima really takes off. It is as quick from 30 to 80 as any car I have ever owned, and I have been driving since the late 1940s (and have owned Maximas of all generations except the first).

It is nice to actually see the results in direct competition on a track.

Very cool.
Interesting about going from M1 to D-mode. Many attempts on my own results in redline way early relative to speed.
Any hot laps?....what were the times B/T each run?
Were you running a full tank of gas...?
Braking...(I know 1 mile strip) but still how did your max slow at the end of each run?

I know....to many questions from an old 1/4 miler.

This reminds me of the guy that tracked his stock 7th gen a year or two ago. I believe he also noted that the car holds its own very well against similarly ranked/rated vehicles. I'm also curious about the brakes as well. In that thread I mentioned, his fluid overheated and his rotors and pads were trashed. If I find the link to that thread I'll post it later. But dang, makes me wanna autocross my ride

i belive i got there with a 75% full tank , if the weather was colder i would of ran better and my breaks arent that bad , i feel a small shake now when i break i think i glazed them tho and downshifted with the paddles to help me slow down , i really dont care for my trans since its a lease so smack it down to 1rst gear at 45 mph if not more

i pretty much did glaze my breaks lol but if you read the reply above you will see what i did to slow down and by the end of the mile on the track there is a turn so its not like your coming to a complete stop !

Thanks for the info!

Regarding the Max and corners. I took my '13 out and realized with a stock setup there is a big need for a RSB. This thing pushes quite a bit.

On my car I notice the car pulls strong then right about 90 mph it feels as if the throttle is pulled back just a hair and the rate of acceleration is lessened. Did you notice this at all?

oh yeah thank god i got the jump tho because if we where to keep going those v8s will catch up lol but i also noticed some runs my cvt just screams past 90 mph and mostly it will get sluggish around that range ! i remeber my 2008 g35 vq35hr used to just climb to 160 lol
