Removing chrome window trim. Need some help

So I started removing the chrome window trim today and struggled quite a bit. In the end I got all the upper trim off but I had trouble with the trim that runs along the bottom of all 4 windows. Any tips??

Hello LongIsland09, long time no hear.
Why do you need to remove the window trim?
What many here are doing to change the window trim look is to add a tint with a (3M type) film.
Lots of colors/styles options are available.

Hey there. I'm actually having the trim hydro dipped so I need it removed.

Yep, dip= R&R. Sounds interesting, looking forward to the results!

Maybe post a DIY on removing all of the trim once you have it figured out, that way others won't have to struggle as much.

Agree

Please do, I am looking to make all my trim pieces and emblems the same color, (not chrome) and have been pondering how to go about getting those off without having to buy new pieces.

Many people have plasti dipped trim pieces with great success. I had my 335i trim wrapped with 3m vinyl. I preferred the look of my buddy's 335i with plasti dipped trim.

I plasti dipped, holding up well and still looks good, but going to switch to glossy black vinyl soon. Just see cars on here with the glossy black and it looks way more legit

Was there ever any luck removing the lower chrome on the windows?

I am planning on plasti dipping my trim and I am still trying to figure out if I should remove it or not but I seen this video that put me a little more at ease with just leaving it on.

I tried this and let me tell you it is a PITA. The bottom part of the upper trim does not have a sharp cut off and is extremely hard to get a clean peeled line. The bottom of the bottom trim also doesn't have a clean cutoff and can look real sloppy if you extend onto the rubber seals. Also getting in between the side mirror and the trim sucks. You have to use a bamboo skewer or tooth pic. Good quality vinyl would be the way to go in my opinion. I'm to the point where I just left the chrome. However, I have a huge dent in the bottom of the driver door trim and I really want to know how to remove it. I've read the service manual and for one you have to remove the side mirrors. You also need to run some tape along the bottom and use some sort of pry tool. It is hooked on the back somehow. I posted a diagram below.
It's on EXT-22 if you have the service manual. I haven't tried it myself but I'm waiting to order the part. BTW, if you mess up just the bottom part, you have to order the whole new trim assembly for whatever door you are working on (top and bottom) and it is around $67 on eBay.
