hey all, i'm requesting feedback for next mods; it's mostly cosmetic b/c at least as of this point, significant performance modifications don't really interest me. maybe they will in the future, maybe not. but not at this time. anyway, i digress. was really considering a cat-back from aam competition for a while there but after hearing various set-ups with different mufflers and resonators, y-pipes etc am really considering the following: exhaust (undecided between):

-magnaflow street series
-flowmaster 40 series original delta flow or super 40

have done my fair share of due diligence with looking into videos, reading up on forums, etc and if any of you are nice enough to share, i'm just looking to get information from people who have made mods with their exhaust -- what you like, what you don't like (if anything) etc etc that kind of thing. any heads-up are always appreciated. regardless of what is purchased, am looking to prep and paint in a high-heat semi-gloss black paint, from the pipes all the way to the tips! i think that would look sick. pretty sure we're adding a racingling y-pipe and a different resonator also; maybe magnaflow or other... i really like a nice throaty sound. a colleague of mine owns an infiniti q60 with all the whistles and bells and the stock set-up sounds perfect imo attached are some pics from today http://i1362.photobucket.com/albums/...ps364c0de6.jpg looking to vinyl wrap the window trim the 3m 1080 gloss black soon and am also undecided about the door handles and chrome strip on trunk. dunno if i want to get them painted the same color of car (kbc color code) or if i want plasti-dip them matte black or dip 'em and use glossifier or what. i may debadge the maxima letters on trunk and keep the burger. again, feedback is appreciated. lastly, am gonna bake headlights and paint the inside of them the same color code as powder coated wheels; am waiting to get email back from the guy for the paint make/code. some of you guys have real sick whips and i just want to get mine looking and sounding how i want it asap so it's unique to me and not just a "me too" kind of max. hahaha, that "mod bug" sure is funny, it'll get-cha! :D

Your car is coming along nicely! I like the theme! I am in the same boat as you and I think I'm leaning towards an exhaust next too and with one of the setups you mentioned especially since the tb and manifold spacers are not available at the moment.

welcome! nice ride

That color looks really at night!! Very clean!

Dudemaine 03-22-2014 08:53 PM

Thanks, fellas. Appreciate the love! Still have a long way to go.

You know, it's crazy with the KBC color code (metallic slate): at night, the shimmery undertones on the car really "pop" where during the day it's a gunmetal look.

Love me a full tank and a clean car!

I decided to go the same route that Racerbox went and dipped the grille surround and the NISSAN emblem. They were both previously painted and clear coated but would chip from small rocks being kicked up on the highway and keeping up with it is a pain in the áss. Other than that, also did a resonator delete and added some nice aftermarket mufflers and I really like the sound a lot.

A couple updated pics from today:

Sound clips ?

This is it so far; good for me for now but will most likely add the Racingline y-pipe (Joe said they should be available as of this past Wednesday, 4/16/14 -- have to check back with him) and drive it for a week and see how I like it. If anything else add a glasspack resonator and that oughtta do it.

http://i1362.photobucket.com/albums/...pssaiaipbg.jpg

Again, the rationale is to do all the aesthetic mods first during engine break-in period before I get fully immersed in the under the hood stuff. Holla

Dudemaine 04-20-2014 02:04 PM

Ayyyyy it didn't upload the video clip wtf

Dudemaine 05-19-2014 07:31 AM

Quick question & update:

First: after adding some aftermarket mufflers and completing a resonator delete, I like how it sounds on the outside but can sometimes get too loud for my liking inside the cabin. It's been about a month now and it's much much better than when it was first done, but could still be better.

Has anyone encountered this and corrected it? If so, what did you do? I've been looking into and reading up on glass packs but am still not clear as to
a.) if they are a resonator, (been reading mixed reviews), and
b.) what size/brand, etc. would be recommended from those that have done it? 2.5" seems to be the way to go.

Also, getting front lip spoiler prepped & painted today; should be receiving rear diffuser and dawn bumper cover late this week or next. Excited to see how it all ties together.

Thanks in advance for any feedback

Thanks man. 19" OEM wheels powder coated. I forgot the brand name for the powder used but know it's color code RAL 7015 and will use it to get rid of that chrome in there when I eventually bake open the headlights

VVhite-0ut 05-19-2014 10:24 AM

I REALLY like the look of that window trim! Did you VW the window trim yourself or have a shop do it? And if a shop did, how long did it take them? Ride looks good man!

Thanks man, took some advice from Ghozt before having a shop do it. Cost me $150 for all the window trim and basically I was told to make sure they blast the edges with the heat gun real quick, just enough to cure and not melt 'em before wrapping and that it should do the trick. He said he's been good for 2+ years with no problems, no slivers of chrome coming through, etc.

Myself, it's only been a month or two for me now but they survived a couple snowstorms from this past winter, and, so-far, so-good.

Dudemaine 05-19-2014 12:27 PM

And if anyone can answer my original question with specifics in regard to reducing cabin noise after resonator delete that would be great!

Daaavid 05-19-2014 04:08 PM

Does anybody know why Nissan discontinued Metallic Slate on the 2014 models? The current gray that looks somewhat similar to that is Gun Metallic but still far from it, and I much prefer the Metallic Slate with the dark sport wheels.

As for the interior cabin noise, Dynamats may be a solution. Car looks great by the way, and are you lowered or is that the stock ride height with the 19s?

Dudemaine 05-19-2014 05:56 PM

Lowered on Eibachs (w/ SPC 350 Z rear camber kit and toe bolt)

Dudemaine 06-04-2014 01:58 PM

Front lip spoiler added and I'm lovin' it!

http://i1362.photobucket.com/albums/...psxrctmrym.jpg

Next up: baking headlights, dual halos, upgraded projectors, DRL strips and painting the housing same color as wheels. Can't wait

Dudemaine 06-05-2014 05:56 AM

Thanks guys, really looking forward to having her where I want her to be; just gotta be careful to not overdo it when I get to that point and mod stuff just for the sake of modding. As you know, it's a fine line between done right and done wrong / overdone and when I see it as complete I'll get to the "under-the-hood" stuff but don't really know what I want to do besides the Racingline y-pipe because a lot of things have been debunked as to not adding any horsepower, etc. Have already put in a k&n air filter and I can definitely see a little difference there.

Feedback definitely welcome on that kind of stuff if anyone is willing to share.

Also will have to add an updated rear shot when she's cleaned up as that part is complete; Shadow Speed rear window spoiler, MAXIMA letters on trunk de-badged, kept the emblem in the middle & added the STILLEN rear diffuser.

Dudemaine 06-05-2014 06:00 AM

One more thing: want to get opinions/ideas here.

I've added aftermarket mufflers and deleted the resonator and am happy with the sound outside but am sometimes not happy with the vibration and cabin noise on the inside (depending on RPMs)

A buddy of mine suggested dynamatting the whole car where I'm thinking about adding a perforated core glass pack; I've read that dynamatting does not solve the problem, but the feedback I've read did not have the whole car done, just, like, the trunk done or something like that.

Might end up just doing both but that'll be costly so any feedback / experience is definitely welcome and appreciated

front lip & will FINALLY drop off car on monday for:
- housings painted same color as wheels (side markers too!
- upgraded lo-beam projector lenses (globe lookin' things)
- led halos around lo-beam projector lenses & in high beam socket
- 5 led drl pods on brake vents
- led blinkers (led flash backs w/ load resistors)

when back from honeymoon am strongly considering taking off grille again and popping out the emblem to paint NISSAN letters a few coats w/ detail brush same color as wheels and lights to really tie it all together

Dudemaine 06-20-2014 11:23 PM

also, if anyone w/ spacers reads this: thoughts? feedback? how do u like yours?

considering doing mine but for some reason am hesitant

pretty sure I've seen mostly 20 & 25mm spacers for oem wheels from what I've read

BIGIRISHSTL 06-22-2014 01:17 PM

Dudemaine, could you give me a step by step on the vinyl wrap of the chrome around the windows? I have 10 SV and it's the gray slate color like yours. Think it would look better than plasti dip as your pics seem to match the black door pillars that are blacked out. Thanks and your car looks real good.

To be honest, I paid $175 to get it all done.

BIGIRISHSTL 06-23-2014 02:04 PM

Did you go to a tint shop?

Dudemaine 06-23-2014 06:51 PM

Yeah I went to the same place that tinted my windows

BIGIRISHSTL 06-23-2014 07:06 PM

Thanks man. Appreciate it. Been cruising around the net and some nice stuff for sale (shadowline) but worried I don't have the patience!

Also want to add here that like a true DRL like in the bimmers and benzy's as soon as I press the 'push to start' button and it moves over to Acc position the DRLs turn on without me having to do anything; even with the headlight and foglights switches in the 'off' position

For any of you rhode island cats out there looking to get the best in our area, it's rihids and it's not even close. you'll want to deal with the owner dan. just take my word for it as i rarely refer people and put my name on anyone unless they are truly exceptional

i would've gladly dealt with ghozt as he is the real deal and definitely "about dat lyfe", as they say, but could not due to proximity issues and being unable to take the amount of time needed to go without headlamps on my daily driver. if i was and could've shipped them over then that's a no-brainer: it's ghozt lighting all day everyday

i do not post this to take away from ghozt but to give fellow .orgers in the same predicament as me a very credible and reliable option to get the lighting work done that they are looking for. i was and continue to be thoroughly impressed with the final result that rihids completed; dan is just as meticulous, ocd, anal retentive, whatever you want to call it about the final product he puts out as i'm sure ghozt is from the clean job done, secured, neat and protective wiring on the inside, etc etc. the proof is in the pudding: pics on top of pics on top of pics and positive feedback like you read about
