It's time to get the ball rolling
Removed the $hitty Nissan Battery and installed a AGM battery. Had to wire wheel the battery hold down and repaint it was so corroded and rusted from the acid from the Nissan battery. Now all is well.
http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znet...R-AGM/image/3/ Changed oil and replaced with Mobile 1 0w-30. While under there realized the dealer oil changes made a mess as they did not do anything to clean up their mess when removing the filter. Had to repair a couple front fascia clips as the front bumper was separated from the under panels. This was something that was done at the dealer prior to me buying the car new. I know I did not cause that damage. I guess these days you have to ask to put a new car on a lift prior to buying. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-h.../photo%2B2.JPG Now comes the suspension. I will have a RSB on order soon and will have the springs on next week when I get a few hours to install. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-T...o/IMG_2055.JPG I am due for some tires and it pains me to think of buying new tires to mount on factory wheels. I am looking at these but I think the color will clash. I am now on the hunt for a lighter wheel. I'll be doing a 20x10 square 40mm offset with 255/35 Pilot® Sport A/S 3 tires. http://pptac.http.internapcdn.net/pp...cts4/21794.jpghttp://www.michelinman.com/mediabin/...a-s-3-hero.png |
I like those wheels, nice choice.
Is the factory Nissan battery reallt that crappy? I've heard others mention that is wasn't all that great either. |
No the Nissan battery is not crappy, in fact is quite good as long as it is at least a 700 CCA one. Earlier batteries had only 525 CCA and were quite short lived.
|
I have to check the CCA on my 2011.. I hope we don't have bat problems because my wife drives that car mostly.

BAttery
I have had 3 batteries in 3 yrs. Seems like every 3rd oil change the service writer comes up and tells me we had to put in a new battery. they are using a 600 cca i think. And these are the newest and greatest battery (85month) they suck. It dont leave me stranded but then again i dont leave things running without the engine on.

The OEM Nissan battery is freaking awful. For some people it barely lasted a year or two. If it's changed recently, cool, but I still wouldn't trust it. Grab an Interstate or something.
|
I am digging the Verde wheels. With the correct offset allowing for a deeper concavity and lower aspect ratio, it will make the Maxima look very sporty. They look very similar to the HRE S101 or S104.
Please post some pics if you go through with these! Very interested to see the finished product. |
After having the factory battery leak all over the place I went with a AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery. I can't stand leaky batteries.
|
I had found one of my battery caps laying on the battery hold down. The other was loose. Kinda one of those WTF moments. I had just driven it 12 hours. Luckily it made little mess, could have been bad.

Threw the Eibachs on yesterday. Time for alignment.
New wheels/tires ordered. 20x9 +35mm 245/35 http://www.vibemotorsports.com/store...-1000x1000.jpg |

Nice work man
If you didn't already get the alignment you might be best off waiting 1-2 weeks to allow the springs to settle before doing so; not sure if it's folklore & the whole "timing of an alignment after springs installation" debate is a six-in-one, half-dozen-in-the-other theory at any rate, but just a heads up anyway I waited around 10 days to 2 weeks and kept two 50 lb bags in there during that time because I rarely have anyone in the backseat |

Ya I am driving around on my worn out factory tires while out of alignment. I'll have roughly 500 miles on the springs by next week when I align the car. Once aligned the new wheels/tires go on. I will tell u tho that driving to Maine from PA thru NY with 3 peeps and luggage in my car at 80 was a bit rough. Enjoy your ride once it's done. Those wheels are pretty sweet what color is ur car? |

Ur gonna love the handling with the rsb and the 20s on it. It does ride a tiny bit choppy but in my opinion better once ur set up with this compared to stock. I prefer a sportier more solid ride. Going down the highway it's solid as a rock at 80 mph which is my normal cruising speed. You'll be surprised how much farther u can take it into the turns on ramps or back roads before needing the brakes. I haven't plowed the front end yet or 4 way drifted it yet either since going down on eibachs and 20s and stillen rsb. Give it hell man. It might surprise ya considering how big and heavy the car is.

Very nice - looks like it should have come that way directly from the factory.
