Does Your Maxima Feel Too Long?

The 7th gen Maxima is listed at 190.6" in length. For weaving in and out of traffic (not endorsing it), it feels a bit too long. Do you guys feel like the Maxima is a bit too long to be weaving in and out in traffic? Not that it should be done.

The back story to this is that I was on the highway and a BMW 2 (174.7") series coupe cuts me off intentionally and almost caused an accident. Why did he/she do it? I have a feeling the person didn't see the YIELD sign when entering the highway and thought I was being rude by not yielding. Then the idiot takes off weaving in and out of 4 lanes cutting off other cars. I wanted to follow it but it looked too stupid and too unsafe in medium traffic. A Dodge Challenger that had seen enough from this idiot pursued for half a mile and was able to weave in out. Maybe I am just a bad driver but I don't know how they do it.

Also, is the Maxima slower than a 2016 BMW 2 series coupe? (Not M)

I've had a 2014 S in possession for 2 days, and it definitely does "feel long," especially when doing things like parallel parking.

Make good use of the rear view camera when parallel parking

Yes and yes a 228 is faster. Definitely an underrated BMW engine.

No rear view camera - it's a 3.5S :-(

The BMW is only slightly faster. However, I don't think the maxima is too long. It's a sporty sedan nothing more. To that end it's big enough to comfortably fit people on the back seat and have trunk space. Nissan has slowly neutered the Maxima (CVTs are the devil when it comes to sportiness) but it's still a peppy comfortable large car.

I also park mine next to a Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab with an 8' bed every night so nothing looks long next to a 22' long truck.

Didn't think it was long until I parked my daughters Honda Civic the other day.

It's approximately the same length as any other modern car in the midsize sedan class, so no it's not too long (unless you think they all are).

Isn't the 7th gen maxima a full size sedan though?

The EPA has it classified as a midsize.

It's not long compared to my 69 Cougar with no backup camera and a passenger side rear mirror having a mind of it's own and always pointing to the sky. I'm very used to the length of this car now, you'll get used to it in no time.

Coming from an 03, it feels significantly bigger, however the handling is significantly better due to electronic ps, also much cushionier shocks. Surprisingly, the 7 gen is 1" shorter than the 5th but 3" wider, the wide arse end with the protrusions makes it feel bigger imo. Its styling and longer hood make it feel larger as well. Overall its a slightly bigger and heavier car but not by much. I waw under the impression that 5th gens were midsize and 7th and up was full size due to curb weight and width. Not 100% though.

My biggest beef with my 2010 Maxima is that I cannot see the where the front of the car ends.

As for the encounter with the 2016 BMW 228i coupe, it was frustrating that I was not able zoom past it after it cut me off hard. It ran away like a little fly cutting other cars off at 90 mph. 290 hp vs 240 hp. I hate it.

I agree. Coming out of a Mazda 3 hatch, the Maxima felt HUGE when I first got it. Now that I've had it for several weeks it's fine. Considering its size, it actually feels pretty nimble (I'm sure the Racingline RSB I've already added helped).

I shift into Ds when I need to take off the pedal isn't on a power band its a little sluggish unless you 'mash' the gas right away, Ds is more responsive -- I used to drive stick so I always keep my hand on the shifter. I used to downshift with the old tranny but dont do it with the CVT -- bad juju haha.

But either way its reasons like this I have a dashcam -- although im not perfect either, but helping someone out in a fraud/careless situation would be nice.

My 03 was worse IMO, I hit the curb less with this car than my old one, maybe because im being more careful or it rides higher up? Not completely sure but im pretty tall and felt like I couldnt see where the end of my 03 hood was either and hit curbs and snowbanks all the time, with the curves on this car I feel like I have a better idea of where it is.
