cvt question

i have a 2010 maxima about 2 years ago took it on a 6 hr road trip. The next morning the car would not pull itself outta the subdivision. i managed to get it to my local dealer and they kept the car 3 days and could not get it to repeat the problem i described to them. They said there was not codes or anything in the computer. Well just got back from beach and now the car is doing the same thing only now I'm at 123k miles and outta of warranty now. i checked the fluild and it looks good I also called two dealers and neither was really any help. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I had something similar happen to my 13 around 30k miles. I was in higher elevation on a cold night. The car drove fine for a while and then out of no where lost most of the power and I think the engine sounded different. It was also foggy out. The car resumed to normal operation a minutes later. It hasn't done it since. I though it had something to do with the elevation but I have no clue.

Your tranny is in limp mode. Prolonged highway speeds and/or steep inclines can cause this. It would do a drain/fill of your cvt fluid and replace the filter for good measure. You can also look up limp mode regarding our transmission to find more details

if its a lack of throttle response (almost as if you're not pushing the pedal) then your CVT could be dying. when the ECU detects a partial failure it will restrict the throttle. when mine were failing I kept getting stuck at red lights randomly because the car wouldn't move. then later it would work, then get stuck again, etc.
