Car only revving to 2.5 rpm

Anyone here deal with their car only revving up to about 2.5 then just cutting out? Happened about an hour ago to me and I ha to keep driving cuz I was not close to home, just drove slow. Then hopped in just now and it seams completely normal? This sound familiar to anyone?

sounds like transmission limp mode kicked in. Check your tranny fluid. Were you driving in traffic? Ambient temps?

I have been having that limp mode issue for a while along with SES code P0101. So I changed my MAF sensor thinking that was causing the problem but it still keeps going on limp mode. I still have the SES light on after changing the sensor to new one. I am not sure what is causing the car to go on limp mode

There is a lot of information on the web about limp mode and there is a lot of causes for it. A common one is driving at a high rate of speed for an extended time, If the transmission oil gets to hot, into limp mode it goes until the oil cools down. The transmission goes into limp mode as a self preservation measure. Driving around in limp mode only invites further damage. Your best bet would be to take it to the dealership for proper diagnostics and repair if you can't get it figured out.

Also I forgot to mention that as soon as limp mode kicks in, I just turn my car completely off for few seconds and turn it back ON, it goes out of the limp mode.

How long does it stay out of limp mode before it kicks back in?

It always kicks in the period I just begin to drive. But once its gone it doesn't come back at least for a day or a week or more. It is a really weird problem.
