Exclamation Programing Intellegent Key Settings

Hey All -

Looking for some insight as to if there is a way to change or "reset" some of the functions controlled by the "intellegent" key.

Backstory: I was driving down the highway the other day with my "intellegent" key in the cup holder. Little did I know that when I was jamming my oversize water bottle into the hold it was inadvertantly pressing numerous buttons on the remote, changing settings. I felt like I was driving "Christine" The signal lights were flashing, windows were going up and down, locks were locking and unlocking... Then I realised what was happening.

Needless to say, no my car no longer "beeps" when i lock or unlock it, and the "auto up" on the drivers window no longer functions. "Auto down" still works, and the passenger side window was unaffected.

So I was wondering if there is anyone that can help me with info on how to restore the settings, or if I just need to head to the dealer and see if they can straighten it out for me.

Ugh... love my car, but these little quirks are enought to drive me batty!!!

P. 3-15 in the manual tells you how to turn on the beep.

If desired, the horn beep feature can be deactivated
using the Intelligent Key.
NOTE:
If you change the horn beep and lamp flash
feature with the keyfob, the display screen
(if so equipped) will not show the current
mode and cannot be used to change the
mode. Use the keyfob to return to the previous
mode and re-enable the display
screen control.

To deactivate: Press and hold the Lock
and Unlock buttons for at least 2 seconds.
The hazard warning lights will flash 3 times to
confirm that the horn beep feature has been
deactivated.
To activate: Press and hold the Lock
and unlock buttons for at least 2 seconds
once more.
The hazard warning lights will flash once and the
horn will sound once to confirm that the horn
beep feature has been reactivated.

Power window programming. Manual page 2-43

If the power window automatic function (closing
only) does not operate properly, perform the following
procedure to initialize the power window
system.
1. Place the ignition switch in the ON position.
2. Close the door.
3. Open the window more than halfway by
operating the power window switch.
4. Pull the power window switch and hold it to
close the window, and then hold the switch
for more than 3 seconds after the window is
closed completely.
5. Release the power window switch. Operate
the window by automatic function to confirm
the initialization is complete.
6. Perform steps 2 through 5 above for other
windows.

Thanks for the quick reply compusmurf - does this apply to the "chirp" the car makes when locking/unlocking as well (not the horn honk) or does one control the other? I'll give it a whirl and see if I can get it back to normal!

Thanks again!

Safety feature. Someone could have the key in their pocket, dash inside a store for just ten seconds, bend over in such a way that the 'auto-up' was triggered, and strangle a kid or pet left in the car that happened to have their head out the window.

You are allowed to do this via the key in the driver's door, because that means you are close enough to see if anything is sticking out a window.

These windows have a 'garage door' type safety feature that detects if something is blocking the window, and retracts, but the pressure required to trigger that is greater than would be required to break the larynx of a child or pet if the window closed on their neck. Try it on your finger and you will see.

I believe there is a module here that will allow you to roll up your windows with the key. Correct me if i am wrong, but its in the description.

http://www.kptechnologies.com/produc...n&model=Maxima

The window roll-up module easily installs inside your vehicle's door panel and allows you to roll the windows up by pressing the 'LOCK' button twice on your key FOB remote.

Sounds Sick.

You can't roll the windows up with the fob, like they said, it is a safety feature. You can program the intelligent key to each driver of the car though so it knows which memory setting to use.

The Key does the following:

- If programmed, it recognizes the key and sets the programmed seating position.
- If the unlock button was pressed for more than 5 seconds, it rolls down both front windows, but not back up (Safety).
- Pressing Unlock/Lock together for 3 seconds toggles the buzzer sound when locking the car using keyfob (The word buzzer is brought from the manual, I know it sounds funny).

That's what I know..

That's what the module is for. It basically adds a feature to our key. There is also one that you can get, along with a bypass and add remote start to our factory key fob.

I believe you have to program them at a Nissan dealership. The fob is specific to your car only. There could be a chance that the non working fob got mixed up in the sale and it belongs to a different car. There is a way to find out if the fob is for your car, unlock your door with the emergency key stored in the backside of the fob. If it opens the door then the fob is either broken or it needs programming by the dealership.

Awesome.
Ever since I bought my car the 'auto-up' on the passenger door didn't work. Thanks to this thread, it now does.

Try what I did. Get into the car and place the non working intel key into the slot left of the steering wheel. Then start it up as usual. Turn off and Remove intel key from slot and see if it works. It did for me.
