whining while turning steering wheel (stationary) and driving and also idling

There has been a whining while turning steering wheel (stationary) and driving and also idling for sometime now. Checked for power steering fluid and it was below the low line, so topped that up. But still the sound does not go away. Also, when I turn the steering all the way to the end, I hear a grinding sound on both directions.

went to a local workshop and it seems it was a bad P/S pump and pressure hose. Replaced the hose and got the pump repaired.. Works like a charm and the sound is no more. Also, the steering is now smooth.

The P/S pump is expensive and thats why the mechanic suggested a repair. The hose assembly costed around AED 500 and the pump price here in UAE is AED 850. But before you do all this just check if the P/S oil level is going down.

Well, luckily my 2014 is still under warranty, so I don't have to pay for it. I might have a small deductable, but it will be worth it. I cant wait to get this fixed after this I will have some minor cosmetic issues to take care of, but it will be set. I like my car, but the **** hit the fan this year. I will admit I have put some miles on it, but this should not be happening.

It's good that the car is still under warranty. Mine had just 3 yrs warranty from the dealership which expired in 2016. I also got another issue that I need to get fixed soon. Car steering vibration above 100 kmph. Balanced the tires twice, before getting new tires and after but the vibration does not seem to go away. Any thoughts ?

Did you get a four wheel alignment? Did you check for a Bent wheel? If yes on both try a another balance at a different shop.

Look on the inside of your wheels you might have a slight bend that throws you off. I did four wheel alignment also and camber bolts.

It turns out my problem was not the power steering it was two defective motor mounts bearing, and some other stuff luckily it was all under warranty the only thing I paid for was a power steering flush.

If they recommend camber bolts do it when you are doing your allignment; they made a huge difference.

My 11’ does that only when I first start it when it’s cold out. (Upstate New York) but goes away way within a few minutes.
