Seems like that vehicle has too much going on. Of course my preference is for simpler lines. Although The rear appears to be improved from the 7th Gen.

Not feeling it from that angle. Reminds me of those goofy Accord Crosstours with the bulbous hind end. Looks like it might be bigger than gen 7 too?

I don't mind it being bigger, but gen 7 is a beautiful car, that thing is a turd.

I thought that it looked very much like an Altima, though it looks like it has a rear diffuser that looks sharp. Without seeing any specs and just going by the looks, I'm not very inspired...

looks like the front is shaped more like the 7th gen (more than the previous sketch ups) and the rear is def less wide than the current 7th gen and favors the current altima....

Overall I like it. The only thing i don't like are the side mirror turn signal indicators, why do the indicators have to be so big? I think it looks out of place on this car. I can't wait to see the car in person.

I'm sure many people said that (myself included) upon first sight of the 7th gen. Then with time, the look is appreciated. Not only that but I'll wait until I can get a look at one in person.

I agree with you there. For a long time I was never a big fan of the 7th Gen and did not really care for the look. Then when I decided to get rid of my 4th Gen last winter I looked at the 7th Gen more closely and thought it was one of the best looking cars out there. Ended up replacing the 4th Gen with a 2014 SV Sport.

From the side it reminds me of the new Chevy Impala.

I'm not a big fan of the burgundy color it may look better in other colors.

Why are the doors so tall and the windows so short...
Hurts visibility, feels more cramped....
Way to be a charger....

Anyone know what it says on the right side of the trunk lid opposite Maxima? Current cars have nothing there, just curious.

I think the color choice was silly. It looks like a lame dad mobile instead of a 4DSC the maxima was supposed to be. I'm sure I will like it in different colors as time goes on but overall I am not overwhelmingly impressed with the 8th generation. With all the time nissan has had with it I would've expected something with a bit more excitement

Possibly "platinum" but I'm not sure as I'm looking at this on my iPhone.

Not feeling it at all, way too fat from the side. Q50 looks much better than this thang. It may do ok with its intended full size crowd that its in now, Avalon, Impala etc etc. It will just blend in with the rest of these sedans that all have pretty much the same look these days.....

To me the car looks beautiful! With bigger rims the it looks just like the concept with a change in the headlights, door handles and maybe the roof. Overall I love it though!

Nissan got this right. The front end (including fenders, hood, etc) reminds me of the upscale Infiniti 'M', which I like. This gives the car an 'I am here' look. The rear is more attractive to me than the Q50. I like the wheels better than the wheels on the concept car. I like the discreet, subtle spoiler on the high rear deck. I like that the wheels and tires fill the wheelwell. I like the sculpting on the side - reminds me a little of the 'Coke bottle' styling of the 7th gen. I like the 'floating roof' concept.

This car is not as bulky as this photo makes it seem, as it was taken from at or below roof level, rather than from where we would see it if we were standing anywhere near it. The color looks maroon, but that is because the pic was taken just before dark. The color is actually red. The beltline (bottom of windows) is slightly higher than we are used to because we don't 'look' through the middle portion of the door to see out, and the higher belt gives more protection in side impacts.

Because of the time of evening and the lighting situation, plus the deluxe coat of wax on the car in this photo, there are reflections, especially in the rear shot.. This makes it difficult to really 'see' the car. I am making no final judgements until we have better photos. I really like what I see so far.

Looks like a G50 on roids

I hope Nissan didn't go too crazy with the touch screens for the interior. If they did, I hope there is a proper battery under the hood to power it all #7thgeneration

Maxima ad was good!
Maxima car not so good!

It seems overwrought for one thing. The swoop lines on the rear haunches swoops up which makes everyone think SUV. The front end looks good but is a replica of the Q50 with the V grille. The backend is a match as well with some Altima thrown in. Just seems over thought and stretched etc.

True about how they grow on you. I didn't like the 7th gen at first so who knows. I will say I'm very happy with my 2014 purchase...maybe more so now ;-)

I bet it looks a lot better if you see it in person. A different color will improve the way the car looks also.

That rear suspension looks a bit rough. Too low over some of those bug speed bumps huh?

Lol somehow i knew that when i came here today there would be a thread going on about this.

I must admit i stopped the directv and went back and paused and shouted, thats the new Maxima!!

Imo though i have to say im kinda let down. It does look like an altima from the rear and those tail lights are attracting space stations.

I love the front end however, nice v look grille, love the headlamps and leds. Keep in mind guys this is probably their best optioned 8Th gen, so base models might not look like this. I agree with light and a few others, a different color and angle might serve us better scrutiny.

But all in all, im glad to see it finally coming. Anyone else notice the little roar it did when he took off?

Ill say this, when it comes to the dealer, ill be there to take all the pics i can and upload them for you all. :-)

I was hoping for a release at the Chicago Auto Show, in which case it would also be on display at the Atlanta Auto Show (which I attend) soon after that. But Nissan is still saying the official intro will be at the New York International Auto Show on April 1st. We shall see.

At any rate, now that the 'cat is out of the bag', maybe the release to dealers will be in May instead of June or July.

I am now even happier that I bought my '11 SV Premium a few months ago as the new one is fairly underwhelming to me.

If all goes well according to Maxima progression themes then by 2018 there will more than likely be a few changes that will include the following:

Darkened Headlights/Headlamp Housing for the front lights and fogs
Darkened Rear Taillights/Housing

Revised Front Grille, either by the black out effect or blacked out Nissan emblem

All Chromed areas will be blackened

Car will receive dual panel roof treatment if it doesn't already have a version with it.

Slight interior tweaks, upgraded stereo

What else??
