Thanks for the post. It is looking better every time I see it. Takes a little getting used to and then it seems to come into focus.

The magazines should evaluate it for what it IS...not their pre-conceived notions of what a car should be. Yes, it has a CVT. Has had for 8 years. The majority of vehicles sold from this point forward will have a CVT due to its inherent efficiency. At this point there are geared options still around in other car models...so go buy one of them and stop the whining.

Many of the complainers couldn't afford a new car anyway if you look at their current vehicles.

Now, now, Mick7. You definitely speak the truth for some posters, but my Mother taught me to just say nothing if I couldn't say something nice.

Yes, there are some posters here who are not in financial position to justify spending the kind of money necessary to purchase this 2016 Maxima. It may help those folks to ease their pain by convincing themselves the 2016 Maxima is not a car they like. I do not begrudge them for that approach. Whatever works.

Of course you and I know this 2016 Maxima has a lot going for it, and absolutely will sell. But we don't want to rub that in. I remember all too well those days when I could not afford exactly the car I wanted. I probably hitchhiked around 5K miles between the ages of 12 and 16 (we can't do that these days), and drove cars held together with baling wire for over a decade. But that was the 1940s and 1950s, and I can now afford exactly what I want, and I want the 2016 Maxima.

I agree with you about some of the folks testing cars. For instance, I have watched Motor Week on PBS for almost thirty years, and respect the moderator (John Davis). But he disappointed me last week when he was detailing all the improvements and nice features with the 8th gen Maxima, then finished up with, 'But it still has FWD and a CVT.' Like he should have expected anything else?

That remark showed a lack of knowledge of the situation, as well as a lack of understanding that the CVT is the most modern, the most efficient, and soon to be the best performing tranny on the market.

But you and I know that.
