Drive Computer resets itself when very cold
Hi everyone,
Have any of you experience this on very cold days? The drive computer page which shows fuel consumption, mileage, time traveled and average speed just resets itself to zero when the car sleeps outside and temperatures dip to -20C (-4F).
We have had a very cold spell here in Montreal and this happened 5 days straight, going into my car after work and my drive computer just showing --- or zeros just like when you do a manual reset after filling up the gas tank.
When I go home and the car sleeps in the garage, there is no problem whatsoever.
Again, this only happens if it is very cold outside.
Also, when in sports mode, the transmission temperature does not go up at all even after driving 35 km to my work. Totally useless indication...
Regards.

This may indicate a weak or failing/defective battery. If the voltage threshold drops too low you might have this issue. We are getting the same cold weather here in Illinois and my over 2 year old 2016 is not doing this. Is your radio station preset memory holding?

The radio stations presets are holding just fine. The battery has no problem starting the car even at -27C.

I am in NY also in Sullivan County where it is at least 10 degrees colder than the city all the time and those -5 temps have not affected my car yet. I am in the 2017 Platinum so I will keep a close eye on it since so many 2017 models are seeing this..

North of Boston 2017 Platinum have had the same issue (s) when the temp is 10 degress or below, also had the "sonar" parking aid which has never been on since the car was new start to act up with beeps/warnings, and the auto headlights stopped working.
Cold weather has also brought on many rattles in the dash, shameful for a 42K car I wish I had kept my 2010 SL.

I think I am seeing this problem on my maxima SL which currently only has 4700 miles. I noticed that it had done it at the beginning of January and I noticed this morning it had done it again.
The mileage is ok but I notice that when I started the car, the display which I normally keep on the mode where you see street names had switched to a different page (I think the very last page). When I turned the car off, the graph that comes up with a update prompt was empty, normally this seems to keep the data for the previous days on gas mileage (don't really look at it all that often).

I was at the dealer yesterday getting an oil change when I mentioned this issue. The rep seemed familiar with this issue, like he has heard about this from a few other people. Said there isn't a TSB on this yet and it only happens when its cold (Which we kinda already knew).

I asked a question about this on here, so I'm glad to see other people with this issue. I have a 2017 SL and my trip meters and car colour reset sporadically. I never thought about the cold but it makes sense, its January in Ottawa. It has happened maybe 3 times in the past month.

Ok, this might sound really stupid...
I'm wondering if there is some safety mechanism that some how shuts down the battery if some internal temp gets too low. Cold temps are not good for batteries and isn't disconnecting the battery while storing in cold supposed to help some?
Also not sure though if disconnecting the battery outright has any effect on the tip meter or not.
