Buying maxima platinum

Since the 2019 maxima are coming out. I am planning on buying 2018 maxima platinum. I was also thinking about getting the black alloy wheels on them but salesman could not find them for platinum. Has anyone seen dealers dropping prices yet? My dealer has not started yet.

I just got an 18 SR with 7k price drop from Nissan. Additional discounts because I'm good friends with the owner of the dealership.

After market wheels should be no problem. It's interesting that they are offering 19" on the 2019 Platinums. I'd kind of like to upgrade my 2017 Platinum with 19" wheels, but I don't want the rougher ride.

That 7 k will make this fact a lot less painful:

Less painful? Each time you make your monthly payment, take out 10 $100 bills of you wallet and set them afire. According to the article that's what happens when you buy one of these.

I don't care much about resale value because

1. I like to keep my cars for a while
2. A car isn't an investment, it's gonna lose value anyway.. why quibble about how much

There are some other fancy cars on that list, so it really is reflection on the quality of the car.

And as others have said, those resale value estimates are quite likely based on MSRP, where only a few suckers pay that.

Ouch.....Great car.....sad is goes down so quickly. Especially considering what a great car it is....Same with the Q50...it nose dives too....But the Max is still a far better value for what you get dollar for dollar

The 18 fell to second place this year. 2018 Avalon took top spot. How can kbb say resale is so good but we know it’s the worst? I don’t get it. Maxima always getting blasted for poor resale but let me tell you that Avalon is not far behind the Max. Very close.

The black wheels give a much harsher ride than other finishes. You might want to go with brown metallic as they give the softest ride but really stick in the corners.

Ignore this. Couldn't help myself. Just feeling sarcastic this morning. Hope that goes away as the day wears on. :-)

Bought mine in Gulfport, MS. 39,400.00 final price. Listed 43,745.00 plus 999.00 protection pkg. total 44,744.00 plus tax tag dealer fees, etc. They were ready to deal. I did some research on sales. they sold 67K unit in 2017 and 40K units in 2018. Guessing they produced 60K units at least, I believe they're thousand's left over good time to be a buyer.

Roy312, congratulations! I bought the exact same thing this past December -- a 2018 Platinum in Red Carnelian with Charcoal interior. Just curious if you chose the Charcoal interior over the Cashmere, and if so, why. Either way, I'm sure you'll love the car as much as I -- and we all here -- do!

Charcoal Interior. To me the cashmere looked like it would show dirt. To me the Carnelian Red would look good with dark Gray also.

Roy312,

i hate to say this to you, but i think you got tricked into paying wayyyy too much. Those 2018s should be deeply discounted now, with the redesigned 2019s out.

That said, don't let this make you feel bad. It's a beautiful car and I think your gonna love it no matter what it costs

Well, I tried to do a deal with in Florida where the internet price was 32,024.The final price was 41K. Then they came down to 39800. And this one had 1300 miles driven by the GM. So I walked.
Then I went to Gulfport. And paid 39,400
Problem was I caught a huge case of “NEW CAR FEVER” so maybe I didn’t bleed them enough. It was discounted 8 K. I read online that they really don’t have much room to play. A MSRP of 41K. The dealer has 38K in it.
I hear ya thou. There are a bunch of leftovers. Think if I wouldn’t have come down with an incurable case of “NEW CAR FEVER” I could have done better than 8K off

roy312, maybe I'm misreading, but I don't see the $8K discount in the numbers you've shared. Can you clarify?

Thanks for clarifying the numbers you were dealing with. "New car fever" has blinded many of us in the past so it is easy to get caught up in the moment. You did buy a great car for the money. I think the color is also great - same as my 2016 Max Plat. If I had any regrets it would have been to get the front end covered with the clear 3 M product. The paint chips over all were very numerous in near 44,000 miles on the road. Fortunately it was a lease and considered normal wear and tear on the inspection report prior to turn in.

Yes, that new car fever, hope it isn't contagious. I chased deals all over the southeast. The ole' internet price. Of course when you called and inquired about a out the door price. They would say these deep discounts are for residents in their community. I never qualified. So, i found exactly what i wanted 55 miles away. The salesman was very knowledgeable about the Maxima. I drove it this weekend about 200 miles. I love it. Was cheaper than a Toyota Avalon or a Lexus ES350. There are hundreds if not thousands of these 18's nationwide left over. This is exactly the time to buy.

where I live, there are no 18 maximas left. Go about an hr away and they literally have 30 of them. Not sure why this is. I don't know if one dealer took them all or what. Even the one that I got a month ago had to be picked up about 80 miles away
