What did you trade for your Maxima?

I just thought it would be interesting to know about the past. I personally left a Q50 Red Sport. What about you guys? Anyone regret it? 2nd thoughts?

I traded a 2013 Passat only because of the anemic 180 HP inline 5. Otherwise it was a great car. I have decided to move up in performance for now on, so I could not have traded a red sport.

Traded an Acura ILX loaded. What a step up to the Maxima! This car is so good I am replacing it with a new 19 Platinum

Amerinamese 12-18-2018 06:20 AM

I traded in a 2002 Altima. No regrets at all.

My sweet 2007 Altima SL. I made the mistake of test driving a Max. Did not trade. Sold it to friend across the street. His daughter drives it. I see it every day. It hurts me to see it parked outside in winter. 175,000 mi. now and my friend tells me he still has had no problems with it.

SMOKESCREEN 12-18-2018 07:17 AM

I traded in an 07 350z. My kid is almost a teenager, realized we were doing all family things in the wife’s little Prius. Love the max but many, many regrets haha

2016 Camry LE. That is a very good, decent, reliable car but also pretty basic, bare bones, and inline 4. No regrets so far except the stupid folder requirements for the USB stick so that I can play all my music. I also still am in the process of getting used to my first CVT ever, or getting unused to the feeling of shifting, at least at low speeds.

But, overall, I love my 2018 Maxima SV so far.

That's interesting. How come? What year was the BMW?

Dom864 12-18-2018 04:47 PM

Some of ya'll seemed shocked people would trade a luxury car in for the Maxima. I'm not at all. I think the car is world class.

cyphur 12-18-2018 05:12 PM

Traded in my 2012 Honda Accord V6. I had the top of the line with all the bells and whistles and traded it for the base 2016 Maxima and it blows the accord out the water.

That.

I had a 2014 Volvo S60 T5. I liked the Volvo but it was a bit small, the Maxima is more comfortable. That car had the quirky but cool turbo I5 engine.

carp 12-19-2018 03:54 PM

I had a 2008 Huyndai Azera. It had so many options on it that I pretty much had to go with a Platinum. I had everything on that Azera from rain sensing wipers, rear sunshade, seat memory, heated seats, etc. It also had 2 things that I really miss. It had auto folding side mirrors and that pull tab thing on the sun visor so that the sun could be completely blocked in the drivers side window. I was shocked yesterday when I moved the visor over and it was so short and useless...

Other than that the new car is awesome and love it - well except for the fact that the USB port broke yesterday. When I pulled the cord out the "guts" came out and stuck inside the cord. I wonder (hope) if that is covered in the warranty.

2008 Honda Accord Coupe Ex-L. Major step up!!! Loving every mile I add to the odometer

hey Carp,

so nice to meet a fellow Azera driver! I still have my 2007 , and think it is a very underrated car. Too bad Hyundai decided to abandon it in recent years. Everyone I've ever let drive it were amazed how fast it is ;)

my wife uses it as her daily driver, so it is on light duty as we use the Max for longer drives now.

sschumer 12-20-2018 11:18 AM

Just bought a 2018 Maxima last week. Couldn't bear trading in or selling my 2005 Maxima with 181,000 miles on it. Too attached to it, running too well, and worth much more to me than what a dealer or anyone would give me for it. So keeping it for now as a second car.

Exactly!! I hardly ever saw one in the almost 10 years that I had it. It was super comfortable and had such a wide open feeling in the interior. It was also so effortless from a stop to 45 ish mph. On smooth roads it felt like a Lexus (not so great with bumps but no car is perfect). If the transmission weren't starting to slip I'd probably drive it forever. Yes, very underrated (and almost unknown) car! I didn't like the newer model that I test drove as much as our older Azeras.

Ha, I did discover in the Max that the sunshade does extend more when you pull on it but it still doesn't cover nearly as much as the Azera!

My one complaint with the Azera is I have really long legs and the driver seat didn't go back as far as I like - not a problem with the Maxima.

Traded in my 2013 F-150. Was hard to let go of the truck but the Max had me at first sight. No regrets, especially the 18 MPG improvement on my 50 mile commute to work.

realmac 01-05-2019 08:15 PM

2014 Altima 2.5 SL. I was a decent commuter car, but the CVT felt like it was slipping when I needed to to rapidly accelerate. I'm talking foot to the floor it would take an extra 2-3 seconds for the power to engage.
At that point I decided I needed more power.

MY ALT Z 01-06-2019 06:38 AM

Traded a 2016 Maxima Platinum for a 2017.5 Maxima Platinum... I Just Can't Get Enough!! LOL!! Well, ok, what did I trade in for the 2016 Maxima originally? A 2015 3.5L SL Altima...

I didn't trade anything, technically. My 2018 WRX Limited was totaled when a person hit me from behind at 55+mph. My wife had a 1995 Maxima when we got married and she has wanted another forever...so I gave in. The Max is a great car...but its not a WRX.

Sorry to hurt your feelings and don't mean to insult you, but the 2018 WRX is butt-ugly compared to the Maxima.

That being said I know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder ...

One year ago I traded in a 2015 Mazda 6 Touring for my 2017.5 Maxima Platinum. No regrets at all. The Mazda engine not only was anemic but sounded like a lawnmower, the overall quality of that car was not very good either . No comparison at all with the Maxima which drives, sounds and looks amazing. The MPG was better on the Mazda and the fuel was regular but I'm so happy with my Maxima that I don't even think about it. Also I got an incredible price at the end of the year.

I use regular in my Maxima. 33mpg highway and 23-25 blended avg last 6000 miles.

Premiuim maybe yields 5-10% improvement. Not worth the 18-26% increase in price.

Agree! I have never fed mine anything but regular! 33 MPG gets r done for me! Of course we'll get flames from those who self gratify by insisting their car needs premium. (They just want to feel good by paying more! The oil companies love you!) Truth be told, the performance difference is not really measurable in our eveyday lives Pounding out 0-60 in a few tics less than 6 seconds is not what this car is all about. It just looks fast even sitting.

Are you so weak on your position that you are preemptively striking out against those who disagree with you or do something differently? That is some strange psychopathy you have going on there...
