remove dash trim to wrap?
 

I just tried to remove the dash trim from the front and doors to wrap with something less tacky. started with the small pc that has the dash brightness control. after pulling for a few minutes it snapped free but looks like its sonically welded on. went back on but not secure like it was. anyone figure out how toget these 6 pc of trim off successfully?

I saw your post and would agree the dash/door trim leaves somthing to be desired in my 2016 and 2019 Platinums. The reason I did not take any action was that you could crack the trim mouldings at removal. There is also some very dim light bars behind the trim (at least the Platinum has them) and I wonder if the wrap would block those lights from being seen. That said, I understand Harbor Freight has some plastic tools made for just such an adventure for interior work. Does the body service manual have any direction? What would be ideal would be a real wood venier overlay that would not require the removal tasks.

Photos to a few salvaged dash panels below. They’re not all great, but take a look at how it goes together. The trim looks to be well integrated into the dash. I remember trying to find the part number for the trim pieces in the door, but I could only find the entire door panel, meaning it’s not something that’s easily removed or replaced.

Do not attempt to remove the trim pieces on the door panels. They are plastic welded into the panels. If you pop them out you will break the weld and not be able to fit them back properly. A new front door panel will set you back 600$. Dealer made the mistake when removing my panel thinking there were retaining bolts behind the trim as in other models.

wyobbagy, I have as well been looking into the possibility of wrapping my interior trim to get a different color/look. I understand the trim cannot be removed. Still hoping to learn it can be wrapped without removing it, just wrap "over it" -- the same way the exterior is wrapped. We'll see, will share what I learn. Please let us know what you end up doing as well. Thanks.
