Anyone here use NON ethanol gas?
Let me start by saying this isn't a thread debating regular vs premium. This is a different subject and I'm genuinely curious if anyone else has had my experience.
I've had my maxima a bit over 2 months. In my previous vehicles, I've used pretty much nothing but non ethanol gas. There's no doubt an improvement in gas mileage. However, with my maxima, even though I get better mpg's, the car runs much smoother with 10% ethanol. The best way I can describe it is, the car feels much heavier with pure gas vs 10% ethanol. Acceleration actually feels faster with 10% ethanol. Just curious if anyone else has used pure gas

If I'm not mistake the 8th Gen, like previous generations, requires 92 octane or higher fuel.
That being the case, I'm assuming that you've been running 92 or higher octane (10% or less ethanol) fuel.
Don't know about your area of the country but in S.W. Florida our ethanol-free pump gas has an octane rating no higher than 87.
All of my assumptions being true, the reason your car doesn't run as well on the non-ethanol fuel is that your knock sensor is retarding your timing which affects engine performance and efficiency.

My Cadenza I tried 2 tanks of pure gas, Ethanol free. Car ran sluggish. Was surprised. The Cadenza requires 87 then the ethanol free was I think 89, so it could have been an oddity there. As soon as I went back to 10% corn it ran better. Never saw even a minor improvement in MPGs either.
