Rear reflector bondo?

New member. Long time stalker. Just bought a 94 maxima se. Great mechanical condition but needs a lot of bondo and new paint. I hate the rear reflector so very much. I have already used the search bar to try to did a way to get rid of it. So I thought "why not just fill it up with the extra bondo."

Will it work? Easy enough to sand it down and get it flush with the lights. Just gotta paint it. Thoughts?

no it won't work...the weight from the bondo will really make opening the trunk a chore.
the opening and closing of the trunk and the vibrations will cause the bondo to crack.
the panel is plastic...no way you can successfully get bondo to stick.

the right way is to bend a piece of sheet metal and weld it in.

Another option would be to take the reflector out and scuff it up with some 400 grit sand paper and prime and paint it to match the body of the car and then reinstall it. then it will just look like a piece of body colored trim. you could even get one at a junkyard to practice on, and if you don't like the results you can always reinstall the original reflector
