kyb agx's w/stock springs? ride quality?
i currently have tein s-techs paired with kyb agx's and im looking around for a setup that will give me a "smoother" ride.
the max is my daily driver that i drive atleast 100 miles per day almost all highway so im looking for a little more comfort. i was thinking of pairing up the agx's with stock se springs. anybody out there that has this setup? how's the ride quality? any input would be appreciated. thanks. |
On the softest setting they will probably be fine.

I had the AGX on the rear for some time and set on 4. It was MUCH stiffer than the Intrax/OE setup but still a very nice ride. Coming from the Stechs youll be satisfied, they are crap from lack of travel. Set them on 1f 2r for a "stock" firmness level.

Its up to you, try it now, but I initialy meant with the OEM springs. It wont make much overall difference with the Stechs because the harsh ride is from the lack of travel. Stechs are on the bump stops already so the ride comfort is basicaly nill.
I had AGX set on 2f/1r 90% of the time with my Eibachs. 1f was too underdampened and would bounce a tiny bit. 2f was better in terms of control but not comfort. Its a big trade off with AGX any how since they are dual adjustable *rebound and compresson at the same time*. Swapping out the springs will only get you so far on AGX. If you want a good ride Konis is the only way to go. They are single adjustable for rebound only so no matter what setting they still feel the same in terms of ride comfort. |
im just agreeing with the kyb and tien set ups.. they are very very harsh.. That is wat i have, Tein htech with gr2's... very not comfortable at all...
but to answer your question, i found an ex-orger who has a agx and progress set up and says its good |

he was. the h tech is not as low as the s tech, id say by like .7 inches the s tech is lower. I dont remember the exact #.

i dont think many will recommend s-techs unless you have modified shortened konis. The s-techs are too soft for such a low drop, and it gives quite a good drop, which is bad for an unmodified strut wise 4th gen. whether its un modified koni's, agx's, illuminas, blues or gr2's the stechs are too soft and too often you are riding on the bumpstops. I think the best setup if you dont want coilovers would be sortened konis with eibach pro kits.
If any of that was incorrect someone please correct me, this is from what i have read and is off memory. |
