Truax SFC's are installed-5.5 Gen
 

I had these installed today. No pics as it looks just like every one elses.

First off, the install went well and the primer I put on was no issue to the welder. He cleaned the area where the tabs were to be welded and welded the rear in first. We needed to clamp the bar to get it tight with the frame but it was not a big deal. We used a small jack to get the tabs to mate up to the subframe. Again no big deal. The material on the Maxima at the first rear tab was a problem on the front side of the tab. The weld walked and we burned through on both sides of the car on this tab. It is a little ghetto at this one weld area. All the other welds took very well and the install went smoothly. Drilled for the bolts, and sprayed some undercoat and she is done.

I drove it around for a little while and notice a HUGE difference in the solidity of the car. It feels pulled together and was very nice over the RR tracks near my house and down the bumpy street I took. I have Craptenzas so I did not push the turns too much, but could still feel less roll. When I get the Prexes 4 I will tear it up ma little more.

It is definitely lower because I scraped getting off the drive on lift. I am at stock height and will be lowering with Eibachs in the front, but those with a significant drop will experience an even lower scrape point. In my opinion the plus in solidity and handling is worth the lower scrape point.

This cost me 100$ and I gave them a $20 to get some lunch since these guys were good, let me watch and help.

I may post a reply after I put more than the initial 4 miles on these but I definitely recommend them right now.

These SFC's are awesome. This is my first suspension mod. I am bone stock and even on (probably original) Craptenzas,the bumps are almost worth driving into rather than around. I cannot wait to get some new tires and Illuminas now...and then some Eibachs and then some grounding wires cause I know they add like 20whp...

I could have sworn they added at least 20...hmmm maybe Irish is right about them adding 30. In any event I like pretty colors so I may just get some rainbow wires...but maybe the red wires add more HP than purple?

30 at the wheels. Dyno tested. True story.

ok, didn't really catch that... it's just that (imho) the proxes4 suck big time also... save up for something better.

and what all-season tire would you call "better?"

And please don't say the Pilot Sport A/S....talk about an over-rated and over-priced tire :rolleyes:

not sure why you think the proxes4 suck anyways...awesome traction (at least as good as my shaved autocross tires), fairly quiet, great wet grip, inexpensive price. I find that they perform well with tire pressures about +5psi over stock.

if you want a summer tire...get a summer tire. If you want the best A/S tire, get teh proxes4.

agreed...proxes 4 is probably one the best performing and under-rated A/S tires out there...but as with all toyo's, sidewalls are a little soft, so keep the pressures higher than normal...found that out on my street tire T1R's...

:rolling_e well... i guess you are right. But then again... it all depends... what you have the tires on and how you drive it. Expectaitions, so to say.

I live in Buffalo, lots of snow, do you still feel this Proxes is the best A/S you can get including snow? I guess I should maybe get some steelies for some winter tires and then get some nice summer tires but I am too lazy/cheap to do that. And thanks for the thread hijack btw.

Where'd you get them installed if you don't mind me asking? I've been toying with the idea of a set for my 4th gen after all of the positive reviews and wouldn't mind making the drive out to Buffalo for a decent shop. I'm having a heck of a time finding anything locally.

The guy at the corner of my street. Alden is East of Buffalo so it is closer. They did not think anything of it. S&W Automotive is the place. Ask for Scott although Al is the welder. 716-683-7703. A little hole in the wall shop with 3 bays. They do have a drive on lift and it took 2 hours including coffee and plenty of jokes and spraying the undercoat. This was the first shop I tried and they said sure. They did a great job except in the one weld that walked like I said before.

I thought that they were "ok" in the snow the two times I used them in snow. I mean, most A/S UHP tires aren't going to be great. the Pilot Sport is the best A/S in the snow generally speaking, but for the price of Pilot Sports, you can just buy a 2nd set of winter-specific tires.

As you know, i run Blizzak LM22 (a high-performance winter tire) on my 17s from November to February......they handle better than alot of A/S tires and have awesome snow/ice traction, but if you run them when its warm they wear down extremely fast.

My suggestion: Get the proxes for 3-season use, and then pick up some 16" steels and a good-performing snow tire (Blizzak LM22, Dunlop Wintersport M3) for the ridiculous Buffalo winters!
