How To: 350z/G35 Dual Piston Brakes
I've copied the how-to to my blog:
http://aackshunsgarage.blogspot.com/...al-piston.html
The photos are working again and I will update the How-To with more details as I now install it on my daily.
Quick Facts:
-350z/G35 brembo's will go on following the same procedure it takes to install them on non brembo 350z/g35s (Just replace the bracket/caliper/rotor!). If you're a real baller you can get the Akibono (spelling?) Brakes and relocation kit for the 350z and do the same thing..... Remember, this is a game for ballers and only ballers can participate.
-I have yet to test this mod on the street!
-The dual piston pads use more sweeping area than the 300zx pads.
-It BARELY! Clears AE wheels on my 4th gen if you're running the stock wheels I suggest getting a 5mm spacer for safety sake.
-Caliper Comparison (4th gen and G35/350z, the 5.5 gen on my car looks just like the 4th gen, who cares)
-Rotor Comparison:
-4th top, 5.5 Gen middle, G35/350z/6th Gen on the bottom.
-4th, 5.5 gen, g35/350z/6th gen.
Review of braking to come soon as soon as I get the first street test dummy.

What differences are the mounts for the parking brake cables?
I posted that before Sunday, thank you very much!

haha this is actually news from about 6 years ago, the S14 knuckle/spacing is the same as ours (along with the G/Z/spec-V and a slew of other cars)... I too thought I discovered it when I first mocked up my G brembo's on my A32.......nope.

I'm not fully versed in teh Q45 or Z32 brake calipers/rotors swap because the age of the technology turned me off.

You know I had actually asked someone in the forums if the 350z dual piston calipers would fit our cars and people told me NO.......LIES!!!!!! Talking about the holes on the calipers were different and screws wouldnt fit...bla bla bla. Because this is what I was going to do instead of buying that brake upgrade kit like I did!!!! Might still do this anyway. Let us know how it feels! Brake bias is still the same?

The reason I asked is because people that got the 13" cobra rotors with the brackets for the 300zx calipers had a portion of the pad hanging off the rotor. the entire pad did not cover the rotor and people's brake pads ended up looking like this:

Keep reading, I said earlier that I haven't driven this setup on the street yet, my red car is still motorless
I didn't speak of any, it's the 350z/G35 bracket.

What's the availability of good track pad compounds for these heavy iron beasts?
Sure they're bigger than stock and cheaper than the Z conversion, but do they work any better than the current brake kits, are they cheaper to maintain, and how much do they weigh?
and 1mm of pad overhang is no big deal. Lots of wilwood calipers are spec'd for anything from 10 to 13" rotors, and they hang off the ends on larger rotors too.

IIRC the caliper weighs in at 14lbs...as far as race compounds, just look at my350z for 2006+ non-brembo brake pad options.
Current brake kits?...do you mean work better than an aftermarket setup? I doubt it. Better than OEM setups for Maximas, yes, even better than going 6th gen Maxima caliper.
Also, 03-05 350z non-Brembo guys swear by the upgrade to 06+ dual piston over stock when running at the track.
http://my350z.com/forum/brakes-and-s...ys-lookie.html
Good price.
(side note - comparing the z32 iron and aluminum calipers...the preference is the iron caliper due to its ability to withstand the flexing that the aluminum calipers face)

Yeah, I was referring to the 6th gen or Z32 calipers on same size rotors.
The advantage to the Z caliper is weight and pad options over the more "grocery getter" pad selection of the 6th gen Maxima.
300ZX current Hawk offerings:
HB178E.564 Disc Brake Pad; Blue 9012 w/0.564 Thickness; Front;
HB178W.564 Disc Brake Pad; DTC-30 w/0.564 Thickness; Front;
HB178G.564 Disc Brake Pad; DTC-60 w/0.564 Thickness; Front;
HB178N.564 Disc Brake Pad; HP Plus w/0.564 Thickness; Front;
HB178F.564 Disc Brake Pad; HPS Performance Street w/0.564 Thickness; Front;
HB178S.564 Disc Brake Pad; HT-10 w/0.564 Thickness; Front;
HB178Z.564 Disc Brake Pad; Performance Ceramic w/0.564 Thickness; Front;
6th gen Maxima offerings:
HB448F.610 Disc Brake Pad; HPS Performance Street w/0.610 Thickness; Front;
HB448Y.610 Disc Brake Pad; LTS w/0.610 Thickness; Front;
HB448Z.610 Disc Brake Pad; Performance Ceramic w/0.610 Thickness; Front;
05-06 350Z offerings:

You the DTC-60 is a heavy duty track pad and HP+ is fine for a beginner. for a Maxima, the HT-10 or DTC-30 would be a pretty good choice unless the car is putting down 300+hp- then you'll need more.
But yeah, there's pads available for the Z32 and Z33 calipers, but not squat for A34 calipers unless you're only buying bigger brakes to get to the grocery store in style.

2 Akebono fronts...with rotors and pads...for under $1500? Where do you see this? And no, your discount doesn't apply. lol
My point is, getting 2 Akebono fronts/rotors/pads is getting closer to aftermarket BBK pricing (for all 4 corners) and is cost prohibitive when compared to OEM G35 non-brembos with rotors/pads at around $400.

For only the front....

And some rears....
Hrmmm... Which will I go with?

Wilwood fronts on ebay...$949 for front calipers, pads, rotors, stainless steel lines & relocation brackets. Just an example but I'm sure I could find cheaper.
Akebono fronts only are how much? Rotors are going to be how much? New pads? Stainless steel lines? Relocation brackets?
It's a moot point for me...just saying Akebonos are going to be 3-4 times as much as OEM '06 G35 dual pistons any day.

Re-read what I said $1300 shipped for all four (and then like what $200 for the brackets? You use your stock lines, sooo SS lines are what $40? Ok $1540, find me a 4 corner BBK, go, go, go!)
Of Fck yeah. Not even gonna argue that!!!

Since you like Fastbrakes.com for pricing reference...
4 piston Wilwood fronts...$825 (includes calipers, rotors, pads, adapters & steel lines)
12" rear upgrade kit...$300.00 (includes 12" rotors and adapter to fit stock caliper so stock parking brake can be used)
New rear pads...~$50
That makes my total $1175 now.

But this rear kit... IM INTERESTED!!!!
This is exactly what I've been trying to accomodate w/ the G35 rear brakes.... So....
G35 DP Up Front....
This relocation kit in the rear...
And I've achieved a 05-06 G35 Sedan Braking upgrade on a car that weighs considerably less
Well actually better because our rear calipers have a bigger piston than the 04+ Maxima and G35s/Z's
Call me a happy camper

False!!! What I said was wrong, so very wrong
The 04 Max has a bigger rear piston than us, and the G's/Z's are bigger than that
Also the Cylinder in the master cylinder is bigger too... But oddly enough on certain models (the heavier ones eg. a AWD G or a Drop Top Z) have the same brake booster we do....
Hrmmm time for a new thread....

It's still good to me. Larger rotor surface with the rear kit and I keep the parking brake.
Just for reference and you're correct:
*2003 Maxima rear caliper bore = 34mm
*2004 Maxima rear caliper bore = 35mm
*2006 G35 caliper bore = 43mm
BUT...All 3 calipers use the exact same pad size according to HPS website. So same size, just less force. Where are the braking experts with their formulas?

I want to start another thread too, some interesting similarities (and differences) between the A32, A33, A34, V35, Z33 when it comes to Brake Boosters and Master Cylinders, I need to keep reading up on some things then I will start another thread.
