Nissan Consult

What else would be needed for that to work except a laptop? :newbie:

Consults are VERY nice. As they have more features than other obdII readers. But he doesn't mention the fact that Consults have the ability to turn on/off ign coils/injectors etc.. So I don't know if it's legit or not.

Wouldn't the Auterra obdII have the same features as what he lists?

Zack342 02-10-2005 02:11 PM

thank you dave...looks like my next purchase

Jeff92se 02-10-2005 02:13 PM

Um LOL!! Not too sure if you guys want to buy this thing or not. ie.... look very close at the parts and consider what they are calling it. haha

DAVE Sz 02-10-2005 02:25 PM

I know, it looks like the guy made the connector himself and the CD is a backup. I wasn't going to buy it but wanted to know if it's a complete set in case I stumbe upon it in the future. About the auterra, I want it badly but isn't it only PALM compatible?

Small tidbit, I just found out that Nissan Fast can find factory installed options on any max with just a VIN. I know it's lame but I've had it for a year or so and never noticed.

Jeff92se 02-10-2005 02:31 PM

All the consults I've seen are stand alone black boxes. That thing he has looks EXACTLY like all the other OBDII readers I've seen. Plus the fact that this auction is from Italy, makes me nervous. But since Zacky is going to buy it, he can let us know how it works.

The Auterra units are Palm compatible. But I do believe the have Labtop versions also. I'd much rather have one of these than some moron on ebay, misrepresenting their stuff as Nissan Consult equipment.

This is a REAL Nissan Consult. Note the price.

Yeah, I saw the $500 one too. As for auterra they really don't make a PC/laptop one, their site say so, which sucks.

Jeff92se 02-10-2005 02:43 PM

Dave. There are more than a few good scan tools out there. Do a search!

That is not the Consult at all. It may be a hacked homemade version, but it is not legit...

But will it reprogram the ecu? Higher rev limit or advancing timing?

Yeah, I know. I remember the big thread that was going on. I recall there being one or 2 good ones, but for some reason the auterra caught my eye. I know Dave B had it and spoke of it highly. I'll look into those though. Thanks Jeff.

If it's a hacked/homemade ripoff, it very well might. If he's not honest about it, then no. Either way, I wouldn't touch that thing with a 10 foot pole...

How? Even TS or JWT can't do that. They have to attach a daughterboard in order to do those things.

That only applies to 2000 and later maximas where you can use a Consult II to upload new ECM data.

It is my understanding that with the original Consult tool, you can only temporarily modify the outputs of certain sensors for diagnostic purposes.

I have an Auterra unit myself which I find very useful. If I was to go out and buy another scan tool, I would get one that could also monitor injector pulse width and knock sensor output.

DAVE Sz 02-12-2005 04:52 PM

^I don't understand? The 2k+ ECUs are flashable, I know, meaning no need for an addtional circuit baord. But Kev has a 4th gen as do I.
