I'm sure this one will get me flamed but here goes...

Has anyone done any research into the VQ30DD engine and can the DE's injection system be replaced with the NeoDi injection system from the DD, just a thought...

IceY2K1 Apr 13, 2005 10:32 AM

Not without an ABSURD amount of money/parts and the gains wouldn't be that great.

If would be cool if Nissan had done a VQ35DD. :ugh:

SR20DEN Apr 13, 2005 06:10 PM

Don't some VQ35DDs exist in Japan?

No. It's far more complicated than just changing the injection system. It would also require the DD cylinder heads.

paultyler_82 Apr 13, 2005 07:29 PM

But it would require a head and injection system swap, right, what else, ECU?

Ninos_Maxima Apr 14, 2005 08:18 AM

yeah i have researched it, it wont work in america, because of sulfur issues in the gas we have

Nealoc187 Apr 14, 2005 08:19 AM

Don't they use much higher octane gas for the DD cars. For some reason the number 98 sticks in my head.

Ninos_Maxima Apr 14, 2005 08:25 AM

iono but that would explain why they had a 98 octane gas

96sleeper Apr 14, 2005 09:28 AM

Actually our gas can support it. They used to say we had too much sulfur, but I think the technology has advanced. The new audi engine ( A4) is the first direct injection gas engine in the US. 12.5 to 1 compression on pump gas.

I think the VQ30DD did make 280hp, versus our 222hp. By the time all money was spent on this, a turbo would be a better investment for the money.

They run MUCH much higher compression due to the atomization and inter-cylinder cooling direct injection provides while on decent pump gas.

Lexus's new IS with the 4GR-FSE is a 2.5L direct injection V6, which will be released in the USA.
